Pregnant in Heels: Yes or No?

I know that conventional wisdom (and, possibly, common sense) says you should wear flats. But let's ignore that, for the moment. If you really love shoes, there's something a little sad about shelving them all for the duration of the pregnancy. Personally, heels make me feel more sophisticated, more dressed-up...and, let's be honest, they make my legs look better. Which is no small thing.

As proof, here's this picture of Michelle Monaghan, taken last fall when she was pregnant. She's at a big movie premiere, so she probably kicked off her shoes the moment the lights went down in the theater-but check out how foxy she is!

I love how chunky and strappy her shoes are: They look like they're stable enough to walk around in without toppling over. I'm so inspired that I've tracked down some similar (but lower-heeled) styles. I might not be able to get through an entire day in the office in them, but I'm certainly going to try.

Sexy, but still wearable -- Seychelles Denaise Platform Sandal ($99 and up, see above left) is really comfy, and the platform helps.

At right, is the Jacqui Mid Height Heel ($110) -- a much lower but equally cool version from Top Shop.

And these earthy-chic brown Contributer by Rachel Comey Heel ($68) are great for the weekends, which Lucky style maven Emily Hsieh discovered at Urban Outfitters.

Are any of you pregnant ladies rocking heels these days? Or do you just think it's a bad, bad, bad idea?

I wore heels one when I was pregnant, but that's only because i dressed up to go to see Phantom of the Opera on stage with my grandmother and cousin.  It wasn't miserably uncomforatable, but I only wore them the once.

I wore heels before and all through my pregnancy. I am a big fan of 4 inch heels and put those away for more reasonable 3 inch ones. They are just fine to me comfort wise and I loved feeling sexy, cute, and keeping up with the non-preg ladies at my work:) And the one time I DID fall during my pregnancy, I was wearing flats, go figure... Also knew that after I had the baby and would be home with him that I would have very few opportunities to wear them again for quite a while. Being pregnant and wearing heels is MUCH easier than carrying a very active 9 month old in heels.

I wear heels until my feet swell too much to wear them anymore.

I am seven months pregnant and I wear heels all of the time. Being pregnant is sexy and tennis shoes are not. I love heels and beauty is pain!

I Love heels. Im 5'9 but i love 3-4 inch heels. This pregnancy im alot bigger than my last so i had put them away starting at 4 months but thats because all my heels were uncomfortable. I found a great pair of 3inch heels  recently and even though im huge they make me feel so sexy and are so comfortable. I had my babyshower just yesterday and peopel couldnt believe i was rocking those heels so far in my pregnancy. As long as there comfortable and it feels like your wearing any kind of shoe ROCK THE HEELS!!!!

I wouldn't wear the shoes pictured here for pregnant women but the ones shown being worn I would definitely wear.  The platform makes them easier to wear, as well as what was mentioned, the straps and chunk in the heel.  Just because you're higher off the ground doesn't mean you're uncomfortable.  I LOVE platform heels!  They're very comfortable and I really prefer them to most shoes.

Hey guys! One thing I love about these heels is that the adjustable straps mean you can make them looser when your feet swell...but the downside is that once your belly gets too big you won't be able to reach your feet to buckle them at all! Whoops!

Do you think it's wrong for me to try to train my toddler to buckle my straps for me? ( just kidding....sort of. :) )

I love my heels, I wore them my entire pregnancy. I even wore them to the hospital :)
