I had heard the word heartburn a million times, but I never really knew what it was until I was pregnant. I had heartburn, usually at night in bed, during the last month or so of my pregnancy and I hated it.
Digestive disorders are pretty common during pregnancy: 45 to 80 percent of women say they experience heartburn, discomfort, regurgitation, belching and bloating. Unfortunately, these symptoms usually get worse as your pregnancy goes on.
However, there are several basic things you can do for relief: don't eat large meals; skip spicy foods; don't chew gum; don't smoke; don't eat near bedtime; wear comfortable clothing; and sleep propped up on pillows or blankets.
And now, new research suggests that acupuncture can help relieve indigestion during pregnancy. A study published in Acupuncture in Medicine found that average heartburn intensity fell by at least a half in 75% of the pregnant women who got acupuncture once or twice a week (for 25-minute sessions).

I already suffered with heartburn (acid reflux, GERD) before I got pregnant, so you can imagine it's worse now. If it gets really bad, I may try acupuncture. Thanks for the tip!
Every pregnancy, I suffer with terrible heartburn almost the entire time, and it gets worse and worse the further along I am, no matter what I eat or what I do- it is so uncomfortable and painful! I don't have a clue where to even look for acupuncture for such a thing...but I will see if there's anything around, I would do ANYTHING for relief, I still have months to go and it's already pretty bad this time!
im in my 32nd week and my heart burn is so bad im waking up just to vomit and it hurts so bad ugh! i take tums and try to watch my diet and drink lots of water but nothings working ne advice?
Doesn't surprise me. I wear special accupuncture bracelets to help with my nausea, and they work wonders!
I'll pop a TUMS (calcium carbonate) before bed as nighttime is usually the worst for me. Works great!
I've had heartburn from the moment I've found out I was pregnant. Eating mints or sucking on mints seem to help for a while. But then I just feel bloated lol. its a lose lose situation for me. But maybe I should try to prop my pillows up.
I googled it one night after being fed up with nothing working, tums, milk, some sort of food that would absorb the acid, i was even told to try pickles, did all the above and not a thing worked.. but google said to lay on your left side while sleeping.. I did and haven't had a bad night because of it since, although it is inconvenient in the middle of the night when you want to turn over and can't.. but.. no heartburn.. good luck ladies!
