Food Aversions While Pregnant

food aversions while pregnantHello first trimester. Hello morning sickness. Hello food aversions. And hello boobs! I am usually a 34B on a good day, so pardon me for relishing in my new melons! But the rest -- bleh. Don't get me wrong though. I am still happy as a clam. Wait, clams? Bleh!

I've got some strange food and drink aversions now that I'm pregnant with twins.

Normally, I drink tons of water, at room temperature, and now I hate it. All I want to drink is Honest Ade Orange Mango with Mangosteen juice. It's not cheap. Last week all I wanted was Naked Bare Breeze Watermelon Chill. Not cheap either.

And they have to be ice cold.

The only foods that interest me are beef burritos, beef tacos, pasta (with garlic and oil only), and Pad See Ew Thai noodles. I'll eat Honey Nut Cheerios and turkey sandwiches, but only because I can't have those others for breakfast or lunch everyday.

Chicken is grossing me out. Forget any thought of fish. Red sauce, yuck. And anything with a minty taste makes me want to throw up right away. Sadly, this includes toothpaste, so teeth brushing is followed by dry heaving. I'm not even craving chocolate like I thought I would since chocolate chip cookies are my favorite thing ever. My husband made some last night for me and was shocked when I ate two and then pushed the dish away. Normally I would devour them all if I could.

For the morning sickness, I'm following the suggestions of others. I eat some toast or cereal as soon as I wake up in the morning. I suck on some Yummy Earth Organic Ginger Zest Candy Drops to keep nausea at bay, and nibble on fresh watermelon or apple slices during day so I don't get hungry and feel sick. I try to stick with the foods that interest me, but it's hard especially if I'm going out to dinner with friends or family. Still, the nausea sets in and sometimes gets the best of me.

Is this happening to you? Did you ever have morning sickness or food aversions? What worked best for you?

OMG yes, this pregnancy almost EVERYTHING made my stomach lurch. All I could eat for weeks was Special K with Strawberries cereal and fruit cups- no meat, no egss, for the rest of the family was torture! I'm past most of it and can eat a wider variety of things but there's still no telling what will gross me out- on the bright side, I'm gaining MUCH less weight this pregnancy than I did with the others- I often will eat anything not glued down, this time maybe in the long run this will work to my advantage- but I do miss enjoying my food instead of trying not to look at it or think about it while I consume it, lol....

food aversions- alfredo sauce. and i LOVED alfredo sauce! before getting pregnant with our first daughter, i had just gotten my picky-eater husband onto alfredo, and then all of a sudden, the stinky feet smell made me want to hurl! that was one of the first clues that i might be pregnant. and the morning sickness with our first was so bad that i had to wait a couple hours to brush my teeth- and do it at work. eating crackers? yeah right. didn't work for me. this pregnancy i have the toddler to take care of so all my symptoms didn't seem so bad; i guess i've been too busy being a mom to notice a lot of stuff!

I'm also someone accustomed to eating everything within arms reach when preggers, except this time. These dang hormones have robbed me of the desire to eat two of my favorite foods: Spicy Chicken Burrito from Taco Bell, and chili dogs. I LOVE chili dogs. Normally, I will eat 2 before I even taste chili dog. Now it's a no-go.

When I was pregnant with my middle child (now 7), I worked as a waitress during the breakfast shift. Ugh! The smell of the bacon and sausage was terrible. I couldn't stand it! And chicken. I couldn't eat chicken at all... just the thought of chicken made my all-day sickness worse.

Today's craving: Chocolate Milk. I was going to eat my Lean Cuisene I brought for lunch until someone said "Chinese food". I was immediately craving shrimp /w broccoli.  Aaaaaahhh... Watermelon and Apple slices sound delicious right now. :P

I cant stand the sight or thought of chicken, or PORK. Pork is worse. I can eat chicken as long as I am not prepairing it. I cant handle thinking of raw chicken lol. I looked at an unopened can of tuna today and dry heaved. I am craving milk/chocolate milk and fast food (I think because it is already prepared and I dont have to touch the meat)  also anything fried and crunchy.

I don't have enough time to tell you all the sorts of aversions and cravings I've had during this pregnancy. And it lasted forever! I was sure after I was out of my first trimester I'd go back to normal...Nope! I'm in my third trimester now (32 weeks today) and while they aren't *quite* as bad they're still there with force.

But back in my first trimester when it was at it's worst I could NOT watch certain food commercials. One being the Giradeli chocolate commercial advertising their peanut butter filled chocolates. Just looking or thinking about that big blob of peanut butter made me sick. And those pizza hut p'zone comemrcials were a no-go as well. They would go on about the "one pound of fillings"...Ugh. I just couldn't stand to even hear it.

I have such bad food adversions that I have yet to gain any weight, and I am 24 weeks along.

But I hear you on the Watermelon Chill.  That stuff is super yummy. And on the toothpaste I now have 4 different brands of the stuff on my bathroom counter.

Let me start by saying this is my first pregnancy and I just entered my 3rd month....I wish I was having the problems that you girls are having... to begin with morning sickness for me is all day sickness. It's extreamly hard to get anything in my stomach and much worse to keep it there. I have lost about 5 to 7 pounds since pregnancy. The only thing I crave are not made in NYC and if so they are like 2 hours from my home (except the ice cream) and if I get lucky and grave regular food like quesadillas, by the time I open my mouth I am full and cant stand the sight of it. Going back to the mornings, I wake up faithfully at 5 am everyday vomiting!! I feel like my baby has an alarm to wake me up!!! I try to eat Raisan Brand but by the time I am half way I vomit everything up..

Its hard to eat anything, to drink anything and worse to drink the prenatal pills. I been hospitalize for dehydration about 8 times since I became pregnant... so ladies, please eat for me lol

Meat!!!!  I am not a vegetarian, but ever since I got pregnant I can't stand to cook meat and can barely stand to eat it.
