If this bit of research is true, it's not necessarily great news for my kids....
A new study by Canadian researchers suggests that moms who spend part of their pregnancy nauseated and vomiting may have smarter babies.
Researchers in Toronto have discovered that morning sickness "appears to be linked to enhanced neurodevelopment of the fetus." While nausea has long been thought to indicate a healthy pregnancy -- and is linked to lower miscarriage rates -- this is the first study to look at the long-term cognitive development of the babies that result from those pregnancies.
The study looked at three groups of women -- those who experienced morning sickness and took a drug for it, those who had morning sickness and did not take the drug, and those who didn't experience morning sickness at all. Their kids were evaluated later at age three and again at age seven.
Other factors, such as mom's I.Q. and cigarette and alcohol consumption, were also taken into account.
Researchers found that kids from all three groups scored within normal intelligence ranges, but the children of moms with morning sickness scored higher on performance I.Q. and other intelligence markers.
And -- the "more severe the morning sickness, the more likely the children were to earn higher scores."
Pretty interesting, huh?

Wow. I guess my son should be a genius then! lol I was so sick I couldn't keep a cracker down.
Interesting. I never really put much stock in these "studies" though. But, if it's true, then my boys should be pretty genius-like. I was ill the first 6 months with both of my boys.
My kids are going to be GENIUS' lol.... I had morning sickness super bad with both. Becka is pretty smart for her age too hehe.
haha---Boooooo to this!
I never had a BIT of morning sickness with my daughter and she's an absolute genius. (And those words came from her doctor's mouth not mine, lol.) But if somehow this is true, her baby sister is going to be even smarter than her---my entire 1st trimester (and through half of my second) I was sick sick sick.
I had severe morning-noon-and-night sickness with both of my pregnancies, from the day I concieved to the day I delivered. They are both teens now and were identified as Academically Gifted (both of them) 2 years ago.
LOL! My kids must be geniuses then... particularly the third one, who made me so sick that when I was five months pg I actually had to pull over to the side of the road to throw up!
Strange. I guess I am mother to the next Albert Einstein! I was sick nonstop and couldn't even drink water!
Baby genius on the way here... couldn't even keep Tums down!
That explains my kids being so advanced then. I had horrible all-day sickness with all three of my pregnancies, but even more so with my youngest.
