Having a new baby is fabulous -- congratulations to Punkylu78 on the arrival of her new babe! -- but it's also overwhelming. I remember that strange mix of exhaustion and elation we felt when we brought our first baby home. We needed help. From cookiemag.com, here are some great ways to help out a new mom -- consider emailing the list to friends and the fam.

-- But us toilet paper, milk, and nice bread.

-- Make us a big supper salad or buy us a frozen lasagna, salad in a bag, and some garlic bread. Drop it off and leave right away.

-- Come over at 10am and make me eggs and toast. Clean my fridge and throw out everything you are in doubt about.

-- Take my older kids for an afternoon in the park or the zoo and feed them healthy food.

-- Make me a big pot of vegetable soup and clean the kitchen completely afterwards.

And then fruit and veggies from the farmers' market with the second -- love you, Helen and Alfred!

What would you add to the list? What are some other great ways to help a new mama?
