Time for Take It or Leave It Tuesday! Up today, a bouncy seat tricked out with lights, toys, and sounds.
Item: Fisher Price Ocean Wonders Bouncer
Cost: $55
What it does: Gives baby a safe, stationary place to sit, kick, and play.
Pros: If your baby is into it (and my first definitely was), it can buy you untold amounts of time to get other things done or just get a baby-free break.
Cons: They're pricey, bulky, and some babies get overstimulated or freaked out by all of the jarring bells and whistles on the (removable) activity bar.

Bouncy seats are overused. I also wouldn't spend 55 dollars on something that should only be used every once in a while :)
I do like some bouncy seats, and we will get that instead of a swing or something similar, just for when I am cooking etc, :)
My kiddo loved it, and since it was small, I moved it all over the house with me so he could be with me.
The one we got ends up being a chair when the kiddo is bigger, and my 4 year old still uses it.
I've had the fancy ones and I've had the old simple ones. All of my children have been much more interested in what was going on AROUND them than with the toys. So, 2 children ago, we decided to get one of the bouncy seats that convert to a toddler rocking chair and that was a great purchase for us. Its been through 2 children and I'm getting ready to have twins so it will go through two more and on through the toddler years. Well, even beyond that really because my 6.5 year old is still below the weight limit and will sit in it to play or watch TV.
We too went with the bouncy seat that converts to a rocking chair --and its cheaper than this Fisher Price one--so its much more practical and worth the money.
I am not pregnant, but the bouncy chair was a life saver for me. I recommend it to everyone.
Ive got to get a new one.
My daughter loved hers and it was really just plain, lol. It played music and vibrated and had one toy on each side. But she absolutely loved it. I could take it around the house (which is hard to do with a swing) and she could be with me while I was getting things done.
We gave it away (long story *grumble*) so we're getting a new one for this baby. Sadly we also need a new swing. Anyone want to sell me an old one? I'm not too picky!
We didn't have this exact one, but the Rainforest one from Fisher Price ( has about the same bells and whistles if not more). I paid about $50 for it at Wal-Mart. It was a HUGE lifesaver!! My DS had colic and I could put him in it, strap him in, put the vibrate on with the toy bar on the most active setting and I could actually get something done without him screaming the entire time. Then when I wanted him to relax in it and actually play with the toys. I put it on the toy stimulation mode ( that would make it light up when he bat at a toy). Then when I needed him to nap in it ( usually for a quick nap before getting his sister) I would just put it on vibrate and he would fall asleep. The toy bar was removable so it made it a lot easier, and it was easier to carry from room to room. I would take it from the living room all the way to the back bedroom and into the kitchen or even the bathroom when I needed a shower. I'll take it anyday! My DD had a plain Jane one, and she only slept in it, all it had was vibration and some boring toys on it. She would get in and strapped in and be out in seconds.
I didn't have this one but our son hated the bouncy seat. He was all into the swing.
We have the Rainforest one, and my son LOVES it! He doesn't use it anymore, but it was great. It was the only way I could take a shower. Bouncy seats are also a great place to put the baby when they take a nap (I liked having the baby where I was while he slept). Used one with all three of my kids, would use one again.
I had this exact one for my daughter! She LOVED it!! Especially when the sea fishies would move back and forth and the water would bubble! I forgot all about that one! Yes, I would have another one like this. It was very easy to take with, and all around the house!
