This is definitely not feel good pregnancy news. It's completely horrifying. Did you read that a pregnant tourist was abducted and killed in Puerto Rico while out on a morning jog? I've seen moms discussing it here this week on the Hot List.
The American woman was five months pregnant and in San Juan on vacation with her fiance and friends. She went out for a run and wound up kidnapped and stuffed in the trunk of a car.
The woman used her cell phone to make a call for help, but by the time authorities found her she had been brutally murdered and left lying in a field. Fortunately, the FBI was able to locate and arrest a suspect carrying the victim's cell phone -- they used the phone's signal to trace it to him.
News like this just scares me. Why would this happen?
A friend told me recently she was scared to go out to the store at night when she was pregnant. She wasn't worried about herself, but about what someone might do to the baby. I could relate. I had moments of that kind of fear when I was pregnant and out by myself taking public transportation, even in the middle of the day.
Do you ever have these kinds of fears? Does news like this make you more afraid to go out?
