You can be pregnant, sure, and many, many of us have had or will have that amazing experience. But as JayGirlsMom recently pointed out here, there are lots of ways a mom-to-be can be "expecting" a child.
Adoption and surrogracy (please note: these are communities surrounding them here on CafeMom) have already been mentioned by a few of you -- in addition to pregnancy, of course -- as things you've experienced or may experience in the future. And all of them are about being on a path to motherhood.

YES, WE HOPE TO ADOPT AGAIN. BUT YOU JUST NEVER KNOW WHAT WILL COME YOUR WAY!
WE WOULD LOVE TO ADOPT AN EMBRYO, AND THAT WAY I COULD EXPERIENCE BEING PREGNANT, ALSO. SO, WHO KNOWS, WITH ALL THE DIFFERENT WAYS TO MAKE A FAMILY~ =-) WHO KNOWS WHICH WAY WE WILL BE LED!
I would LOVE to adopt many children someday! We are lower income, though, and can't imagine covering all the fees and costs--- It's frustrating to know there are perfect babies wanting a home. Because it's not attainable, financially, I just try to put it all out of my mind. This reminder has brought sunshine to my heart, though. Thank you!!! I will keep up my hope.
