20 Absolutely Perfect Disney Baby Boy Names (And Not Just The Obvious Ones)

Is there a better moment in our childhood than watching our favorite Disney movies on repeat? Honestly, we can't think of one. And while we may go crazy if we ever hear Elsa sing "Let It Go" again (haha, just kidding, we will absolutely hear that song again, probably about 40 more times today if today is anything like other days), we can't think of anything we love more than recreating those own special moments from our childhood by snuggling up with our kiddos and watching Disney movies again today. They're a tradition we love, a connection between our childhoods and our kids', and they're also wildly entertaining -- especially some of those recent Pixar Studio movies, which we actually do want to watch over and over, whether with the kids or not. So we have this love of Disney films and the fact that they create a strong connection between our generations (and even our parents' generation).

For those who have a darker side, inspiration from the Disney villains may be just what they're looking for. No, we don't want our kids to grow up to be villains, but hey, the villain always gets the best lines, right? Of course, classic Disney-inspired baby names for girls will always be strong contenders, while for boys we may want less obvious names from forgotten Disney characters. For those looking outside the Disney box, consider baby names inspired by fairy tales, some of which are Disney-adjacent.

Because these stories inspire a connection across generations, it means naming a kid after Disney films is a fantastic idea. Yes, our parents might think that names should only be family names -- but frankly, we think that anyone who makes that choice is making a good one, but for us, we're more likely to go our own way and choose a name that speaks to us. That's why we love these great Disney name options!

  • FLYNN

Flynn Rider is the roguish thief and love interest in the 2010 Disney film Tangled, which is a variation on the classic tale of Rapunzel. We think Flynn is a cool name for a baby boy, although so is Zachary -- Zachary Levi provided Flynn's voice.

  • RYDER

Tangled's Flynn Rider's last name makes a great first name for a baby boy, especially when spelled "Ryder." Although this name is also pretty gender-neutral, and would work well on a baby girl, too.

  • ERIC

Prince Eric is Ariel's love interest -- and eventual husband -- in The Little Mermaid. He's the classic dreamy prince, with his black hair and blue eyes, and we think Eric is about as princely and handsome a name as its namesake.

  • NAVEEN

In the Disney film The Princess and the Frog, Prince Naveen is the eldest prince of the kingdom Maldonia. We think Naveen is a lovely name for a baby boy, just as handsome as the character himself (when he's not a frog, of course).

  • SHANG

Captain Li Shang is Mulan's friend, commander, and eventual love interest in Disney's 1998 film Mulan, and we can absolutely see why -- he is a handsome cartoon. We think Shang is a strong name for a baby boy.

  • ROBIN

The protagonist in the classic 1973 Robin Hood may have been a cartoon fox, but we think he's one of the cooler Disney characters of all time. We also love the name Robin for a baby boy -- and it's a traditional name for boys in England, but also works as a cute girls' name

  • PHILIP

Prince Philip is the hero of that ultimate Disney classic, Sleeping Beauty. While we don't get to see too much of his personality, he can talk to animals, so that's always a good sign. We think Philip is a traditional, handsome name for a boy.

  • KRISTOFF

Kristoff Bjorgman helps Anna and Elsa out in Frozen, and is really great friends with a reindeer, to boot. We love the name Kristoff for a baby boy (although Sven, the reindeer's name, is a pretty great one, too).

  • MILO

Milo James Thatch is the protagonist of Atlantis: The Lost Empire, and he's such a cool adventurer, we think a baby named after him would have to take after him. James, his middle name, is a great boys' name, too.

  • ROGER

Roger Radcliffe is Pongo's human and Anita's husband in 101 Dalmations. We love his adoration of his wonderful dog, and think he's a great namesake. Roger is a classic name that has fallen out of fashion, which means it would be unlikely that any other kids in class would have the same name.

  • DAVID

David Kawena is a supporting character in Lilo & Stitch, but we think this patient, understanding young man is a great example -- and that the name David, which means "beloved," is a great boys' name.

  • ADAM

Although we go most of Beauty and the Beast seeing Prince Adam under the spell as the Beast, we love his transformation. And we think that the name Adam is a fantastic name for a baby boy -- not at all beastly.

  • HANS

Prince Hans of the Southern Isles, aka Hans Westergaard, is the villain of the film Frozen. While his betrayal is upsetting, his name is still a great one -- we think "Hans," which means "God is gracious," is a wonderful name for a baby boy.

  • BAILEY

Bailey is the name of the baby Beluga whale in Finding Dory, and we think his name is a fantastic one for a baby boy. Because Bailey is also pretty gender-neutral, it would also be a great one for a baby girl

  • NICK

Nick Wilde is a fox and a con artist in the 2016 film Zootopia whose character eventually grows. He is a great character, and we think the name Nick is an excellent one for a baby boy, although it's even better as Nicholas, shortened to Nick.

  • HAMISH

    16

Harris, Hubert, and Hamish are the three redheaded sons of King Fergus and Queen Elinor in the 2012 film Brave. We think the name Hamish, which is a Scottish version of James, is a lovely traditional name for a baby boy.

  • PASCAL

Yes, Pascal in the film Tangled may be a pet chameleon belonging to Rapunzel, but that doesn't mean that the name Pascal can only be used for reptiles! We love the traditional name, and think it would be great on a boy.

  • CARL

Carl Fredericksen is the name of the old man in the inspiring, hopeful story Up, and although he is somewhat cranky, we all know how much heart he has under that veneer. We think the name Carl is a handsome one.

  • REMY

The star of the film Ratatouille, Remy is the adorable rat who happens to be an absolutely incredible chef. While naming a kid after a rat may not have been anyone's first plan, having a son who is a fantastic chef is always a good idea.

  • JACQUES

A French-accented Pacific cleaner shrimp in Finding Nemo, Jacques has a lot of personality for such a tiny character. We think that the name Jacques, or the English equivalent, Jack or Jackson, would be an awesome name for a baby boy.
