January is a month filled with hope, promise, optimism, and hard work. It's a wintry month best known for New Year's resolutions, first quarter goal-setting, and empty calendars just waiting to be filled with ambitious notes and social plans. And that's no surprise given that in astrology, the sun travels through both driven earth sign Capricorn (from December 22-January 19) and innovative air sign Aquarius (from January 30-February 18). The industrious, forward-thinking tone of this season is sure to leave its impression on babies born throughout the first month of the year. Research has even shown that January-born babies are more likely to be at the top of their professional game.

A study of birth date data on CEOs from S&P 500 companies from 1992 to 2009 found that January is among the top five CEO-producing birth months, accounting for over 10 percent of CEOs. They also have good luck in the health department, as research on nearly 2 million people born between 1900 and 2000 concluded that being born in January poses little added risk when it comes to developing diseases throughout life. And as if that wasn't enough, they're also more likely to be famous, according to a study that said January-born kiddos are more creative and seem to possess superior problem-solving skills compared to peers born during other months.

There's much to be said for welcoming a baby in January.
