A New Blood Test for Down Syndrome

There's a simple new blood test that can check an unborn baby for Down Syndrome -- it's less invasive, and therefore less risky, than an amnio.

Researchers at Stanford University in California have developed the test that can search for the extra chromosomes that cause Down Syndrome and other abnormalities -- in addition to posing less risk, the test for moms-to-be can be performed earlier in a pregnancy than an amnio, too. If you're worred about this or any other birth defect, ask your doctor about the test and whether or not it may be right for you.
