Right before baby comes, emotions tend to run a little high. You're so excited that you're going to be parents and so many things are about to change for you and your partner. But sometimes men have a hard time adjusting to the new dynamic and want to feel they have an equal part in everything. That's what one man is going through after getting angry with his wife because he felt like she was "taking all the credit" for making their unborn daughter and forgot that he "provided half the genetic material."

The dad-to-be explained that he hit his boiling point during a recent ultrasound appointment.

In a post on Reddit, the anonymous man wrote that his wife is about "7 months along" but just because the baby is in her belly doesn't mean that she should get to claim she's "making" the baby all by herself and it was seriously ticking him off.

At the appointment, a tech pointed out their daughter's little body parts on the screen and his wife started to tear up. "'I can’t believe I’m making a human being,'” he recalled her saying.

Annoyed, the dad waited until the two were alone in the room before he "gently reminded her that we are both the parents, not just her. I also told her that saying she’s 'making' the baby on her own is not accurate, since I provided half the genetic material."

Of course, his already emotional wife got even more upset. She told him that he doesn't appreciate the fact that it's her body that's carrying the baby and told him the he doesn't "appreciate what she’s putting her body through to be pregnant."

"I just don’t think it’s fair to claim I haven’t contributed something to making our daughter," he added. "She is still upset the next day."

So was he wrong for feeling the way that he did?

Online, people just about had it with this clueless dad.

Boy oh boy, had this dad gotten it all wrong. His wife was making the baby in her body which is a long, tiring, and at times painful process. Just let her have her moment!

Another person also felt bad for mom. "It makes me so sad thinking about that poor woman getting excited about her daughter, telling her husband about it, and having him shoot her down so hard," the commenter wrote.

Someone else also felt like the dad knew what his wife was saying but was just being a jerk. "Yeah he provided half the genetic material, but he's not the one gestating the fetus," the person wrote. "He won't experience the weight gain, the hormonal changes, body changes, the birth etc. What he eats and does physically won't affect the fetus the way it will for his wife. I rolled my eyes at this post to be honest. He knew what she meant."

But some people had compassion for the dad.

They felt like he was just expressing himself and his frustration at not being included.

One person wrote that it was normal for men to feel "unsure of their contribution to a baby during the early stages."-placeholder

"People are seriously terrible," someone else agreed. "Dude just wants to feel included. Obviously it's inside her but what a selfish/self-centered thing to say to your man who's there with you. Chick isn't making some insane sacrifice with her body. It's what she 'wanted' to do with her life and [is] going to get plenty from it in terms of fulfillment etc. The moment a dude steps up and merely says he wants to be counted people poop on him. Crazy world."

And another person thought everyone else was being too judgmental against the man. "Men aren't second class citizens, people," the person commented.

But in the end, the man seemed to come to his senses and agreed he was being really, really stupid. "I’m an idiot," he wrote later in the thread. "I don’t know what I was thinking. I’m gonna apologize and make it up to her however I can."
