When you make an appointment to get your hair cut and highlighted, it's usually a short window of time all to yourself that you're really looking forward to. One woman put her own pampering aside and rushed "back to work" for the best reason of all. Midwife Carrie Hall dashed to the hospital -- foils in her hair and all -- to assist in bringing a baby into the world.

The nurse practitioner from Whitesburg, Kentucky, shared the photo with her alma mater, Frontier Nursing University, and the school proudly put the perfect pic on its Facebook page. Take a look.

She captioned the photo: "1st time for everything! Thought I'd share! I was at the salon and nature called!"

CafeMom caught up with the busy midwife, who happily shared her awesome story:

It was just an ordinary day on call when I thought I'd chance a hair appointment for a color! I called prior to going to my appointment and there was a patient in labor but she wasn't progressing rapidly. My hair dresser, Demaris, had just finished foiling my hair when the nurses called and said the patient was ready to deliver.

The local hospital was five minutes away so ... foils and all .... I went to catch a baby! The patient was ready to push when I arrived! Luckily, the patient delivered within 20 minutes.

Imagine how special her patient felt seeing her rush in with her hair mid-color? You have to know you are this lady's top priority!

And for those of us who get our hair highlighted, we can't look at this photo without wondering just how blond her hair ended up as a result of this detour. Thankfully, all is well.

"I then got back in my car, went back to the shop, and finished my hair," Hall told us. "Needless to say, momma, baby, and my hair are great!"
