It's probably a given that you'll get
time off with your new baby, but what about your husband? Will he, too?

Rhynestonefreak asked moms in The CafeMom Newcomers Club if men should get maternity leave, too. Here's what a few moms had to say.

Rhynestonefreak said her hubby had some sick time coming, and that he'd use that after the baby was born -- but she wondered if there ought to be another way for men to get more time off with baby, just like mom.

Moms agreed that, yes, dad should get time off -- but the available options vary.

KatCakes2788 said her husband's company didn't offer any formal paternity leave, but that he'd use some vacation time to be home with the baby.

2boysMoma volunteered that there is the Family Medical Leave Act, if the employee qualifies, but that usually means taking unpaid time off.

NikkiM64 said that her husband's company offers paternity leave -- two weeks paid time off when a child is born or adopted, and it doesn't detract from his sick or vacation time.

What about your husband or partner? Will he get time off to be with your new baby? Will it be paid, unpaid, FMLA, or a combination?
