I'm following a real pregnant mom, 19-year-old bam61907, on her exciting journey from bump to baby. Check back every Wednesday for the latest developments!
Week 11
What's Happening with Mom: I had my first real prenatal appointment this week -- I was excited but anxious, too. I wanted to see the baby but was nervous I'd hear bad news about the bleeding between my placenta and uterus.
My husband went with me. I met with the nurse first and then the midwife -- she's really nice and she's young so we can relate. She began the sonogram and found the baby right away -- we saw the flickering movements, so we knew there was still a heartbeat.
The blood between my placenta and uterus is still there, but small, so that's good news. The midwife said everything looks great and I don't have to worry about losing the baby at this point because I'm "almost out of the woods."
Then she said "well, your baby should be moving all around by now so lets see if I can get a good angle to see it." Just then, there the baby was moving its little arms and legs nonstop! It was adorable -- she sent me home with four ultrasound pictures (that's a profile shot, below).
After that, I went to the lab to get blood work done to test for Down syndrome. With the news that I can be less concerned about miscarrying now, this week's appointment was GREAT! My next appointment is January 28th and I'll be 17 weeks along.
Work has been unbelievably busy, but life at home is great. My husband and I have been hanging out together a lot and going to dinner with other couples.
This week I went to a "passion party" with some girlfriends -- it's a party where they sell sex toys. Everyone was teasing me that we obviously didn't need any help in the sex department!
My pregnancy symptoms have eased up this week; I'm tired and occasionally get a headache, but that's it. Now I'm just looking forward to the holidays; we're going down to our parents' for Christmas. I can't wait to relax with my family and eat lots of yummy food!
What's Happening with Baby: I'm officially a fetus and am now about the size of a lime. I'm on the move in your belly -- kicking, squirming, and hiccupping as my diaphragm begins to form.
Question of the Week from Answers:
"I'm 8 weeks along and just about to have my first prenatal appointment. What can I expect?"
"You might have an ultrasound during your first appointment. But mostly they go over the do's and don'ts, talk about vitamins, do blood work, and you get your due date." -- gemgem

congrats on the new baby. hope that everything goes well and keep us updated.
congratulations! This blog looks great! Im 30 weeks gone now myself and it would have been great to have followed something like this throughout my earlier days!! Good luck with it all!
I have found the blogs and forums on the bounty website really useful though. Its great to talk with other mummys online - especially as he is my first so its all very new. Plus i find it easier to ask the more embaressing questions to my online friends than real life ones. What do other people think?
