Pregnant Woman Kicked Out of Gym Because Her 'Belly Was Hanging Out'

pregnant woman kicked out of gymPlease make sure you're sitting down, because this story will blow your mind. A 31-year-old pregnant woman says she was kicked out of her gym because her "belly was hanging out."

That's right. A mere 10 minutes into her treadmill workout, Melissa Mantor, who is 18 weeks pregnant, was told her midriff-baring top was in violation of the company's dress code. Planet Fitness, which prides itself on its "Judgment Free Zone," encourages people of all sizes and fitness abilities to work out without feeling judged. Unfortunately, the policy also seems to have worked in reverse.

Check out the supposedly offensive attire:

See that teeny tiny baby bump under the bottom of her tank top? Yeah, that's what was offensive.

"I was very confused. She continued telling me that my belly was hanging out and I need to get it covered up," Mantor said after the incident. "I told her at that time, 'Of course my belly is hanging out, I am pregnant.'"

This was at the gym, where people dress in raggedy torn sweats or skin-tight yoga leggings. And a small pregnant belly was the most offensive thing they could find? What a travesty!

Pregnant women showing off their growing bellies is nothing to get in a huff about, people. They're not showing their private parts! Bellies are a pretty acceptable part of the body to share with the world -- men and women alike do it every day. And when you're pregnant, it's pretty hard to hide that belly.

If it fits (because let's face it, sooner or later, you'll outgrow those clothes) and is comfortable, who is everyone else to judge a pregnant woman's attire? Granted, maybe you shouldn't be rocking a crop top the week before giving birth, but if you're showing off your belly while it's growing and you're happy, more power to ya! Rock those midriff-baring tops, ladies!

Planet Fitness has a dress code that is at the discretion of each location & it's staff members. She knew that when she signed up. If she didn't like it, she should have joined another gym.

Rules are rules. Ppl need to learn the world doesn't revolve around them!

planet fitness, the same place where a mom was kicked out because she was nursing her child....really family friendly I have to say!

Movie... Moviebuff

Just because she is pregnant doesn't mean she gets to break the rules.

We have a Planet Fitness in our city and the dress code is clearly spelled out on a sign as you enter. If you don't like the rules, find a different gym. Stop trying to make excuses and look for exemptions.

So what you are saying is that because her belly is small it's ok to break the rules. All she would have needed to do was pull up her pants and she would have been in compliance. This has absolutely nothing to do with her being pregnant.

"If it fits"   That right there, clearly given the photo her shirt no longer fits the way it was intended to. I'm all for pregnant women dressing for comfort, but gyms have clear guidelines on what is and is not acceptable atire.

@nonmember Me: That's what I thought when I saw the picture. Just pull your damn britches up; problem solved! Surprised she wasn't called out for her silicone boobs hiking up above her neckline.

I'm sorry but she looks ridiculous. Her shirt is obviously too small for her growing stomach. I agree with planet fitness. Honestly they did her a favor because she couldn't figure it out for herself that she needs a new shirt. Walmart has em for 5 . Now she looks ridiculous all over the internet. Never seen a pregnant woman try and pull off this weird "look" ... If you can call it that. I call it too broke for a new shirt look .
