25 Names Guys Would Give Their Babies if Their Wives Weren't Involved

DAD approved names for baby boysThere is so much riding on what you name your child. It's the name that he will be called forever. Unless he emancipates himself from you and changes his name. Which could very well happen if you choose poorly. Choosing a baby name also comes with the challenge of you and your partner liking (or not liking) the same name. Not always easy.

In an effort to delve into the male psyche, I asked a couple dozen of them what they would name their son if it were solely up to them. If it didn't matter what their significant other or anyone else had to say about it. Here are those dad-approved names for baby boys.

  1. Jared
  2. Jakob
  3. Tyrus
  4. Alaska
  5. Hunter
  6. "Junior" -- Dad's own name with Junior added to the end
  7. Shane
  8. Sasha
  9. Bryce
  10. Geronimo
  11. Issac
  12. Stuart
  13. Seamus
  14. Sam
  15. Brock
  16. Xavier
  17. Mortimer
  18. Obi-Wan
  19. Felix
  20. Jackson
  21. Maxwell
  22. Julius
  23. Alexander
  24. King
  25. Cash

I might side with a lot of these guys. Obi-Wan, Felix, King ... great names in my book.

If your guy came to you with one of these names, would you say yes to it? What names did your man like and you vetoed?

on the note of Obi-wan... my older son's name was almost Hans Olo. DH nixed it though lol

the only one on the list that i would have problems with is Mortimer.

Scarlett Rose Valdez

Other than Obi-wan, most of these are great. Surprised that Sasha is on the list, because it's normally a girl's name, but I LOVE it as a boys name.

Kristen Riley

I actually like most of those!

alexa... alexabimom

I have an Alexander. His dad wanted to name him Titus.

the4m... the4mutts

I get that this was supposed to be a bit cheeky, but I find it stupid.

All men aren't overly masculine cave men, or uber geeks. Nor do they only care about their sons' names. My exhusband fought with me for months during the times we were trying to name our 2 daughters.

My (now) husband suggested our son's name. Brandon Renee. That is both our first names. In my rush of after-birth hormones, I said "We are naming him Brandon Renee Alexander. So he has something that is just HIS. He's his own person, not just part of us"

My husband was GREAT about it. He was smart, and said "whatever you think is best. You're the mommy"

After a couple days, he decided that he loved it.

I just really hate the premise that men care about boys more than girls, or that men are too doofy to pick a "real" name.

ninja... ninjakids
