Mom Gets Pregnant With Triplets Just 4 Weeks After Giving Birth

OMG 121

pregnancy testPlenty of parents wind up having their babies fairly close together in age -- but one mom in the U.K. is getting way more than she bargained for after conceiving triplets four weeks after giving birth to her first child!

I know. My head is spinning too over the idea of have four babies all under the age of 1 in the span of less than a year. Holy. Moly.

Sarah and Benn Ward had a tough time getting pregnant with their son, Freddie. They decided to go ahead and start trying for another baby shortly after his birth, thinking it would take quite some time again.

They did the deed a mere four weeks after Sarah delivered, and BOOM! She turned up preggo. With three babies. (OMG.) She got the positive pregnancy test result when her son was just 8 weeks old. And while she admits being shocked, she seems pretty at ease with the idea of having four little ones at home ... so I guess she and Benn are prepared?

Maybe I missed the boat somewhere, but I always thought there was some sort of two- to three-month grace period between giving birth and getting knocked up again. I mean, I didn't even have my period return for at least a couple months after I had my son. Isn't getting your period kind of a prerequisite for your cycle working the way it's supposed to again after delivery?

Gah. Not that most women are exactly in the mood for sex so soon after giving birth, being that they just spent hours trying to get something out of their body -- but if you do find yourself feeling frisky? Yeah, you might want to think about making sure your birth control is in check unless you're totally prepared for another nine months of pregnancy. And another baby. Or three.

Did you have any idea you could get pregnant right after giving birth?

Just because your still bleeding from childbirth doesn't mean your cycle hasn't started back up, it's why many ob's recommend starting birth control immediately. and while its reccomended to wait at least six weeks before having sex again many women go with when they are ready.

I have a friend with "Irish Twins" ... her boys are only 11 months apart.  I, myself, have boys 15 months apart.   I was breastfeeding AND on birth control when I got pregnant with my second son.

Are you serious with that question. YOU are the MOST fertile after giving birth. Where you never told this?

Sterling21, the first few weeks/months are the easiest to conceive. Just because you give birth doesn't mean it's easier to conceive.

And seriously, EVERYONE knows that you are most fertile after you give birth, that's why doctors will push birth control on you the second after you deliver!!!!!!!!! I didn't even push my placenta out, and the doctor was asking what birth control I wanted!!!!!!!!!!!!

And wtf are irish twins, I never heard of irish twins...

My youngest two are 11 months apart, now ages 2 and 1. I didn't plan on it happening, and it's hard! I just wasn't quite thinking after multiple mimosas on Christmas morning! I cried when I found out I was pregnant when my daughter was 8 weeks old. I can't imagine if I would have been told it was triplets!

I found out I was having twins 8 weeks after I had my daughter (my second child)! And yes I'm well aware I had a chance at getting pregnant... The twins were a huge surprise tho!!

Ooh and the twins were early so the twins and my daughter are 10 months apart!!
