7 of the Strangest Things on My Homebirth Supplies List

Ihomebirth supplies absolutely love everything about the idea of giving birth to my third baby at home. Everything from having my two older children close to me to having a midwife who responds to me as a human being and respects the body and it's natural process is wonderful. I would recommend it to anyone.

But it is a little weird. This is a fact my husband and I have been especially aware of over the past several weeks during which we have been procuring our very strange list of home birth supplies as provided by my midwife.

The list might seem normal to anyone who has had a home birth, but my first two were hospital births and let me tell you, I needed NONE of these things. Here is a list of 7 of the weirdest parts of my home-birth list:

Haha I thought the same! I had babies 1&2 at home. #3 was nt cooperative and was born in the hospital. My home births were much more peaceful. Good for you!

I don't think any of that stuff is weird. I could tell what the purpose was for each item as soon as it was listed.

Ha ha.  I thought the cookie sheet was a bit weird.

I didn't have a home birth, but was home 25 hours after having my second. After having to wear the massive pads after having my first, I decided to just go for it and get the underwear. I am so glad that I did, because my husband forgot to stock toilet paper in the bathroom, and as I walked down the stairs to get some, I peed myself, laughing hysterically at the absurdity of it all.

I think every mom to be should also have some Mama Bottom Balm. It's amazing. I actually use it for bruises anywhere, not just on my birth bruised vag.

Good luck with your birth!

I am preparing for my home birth, I am 32 weeks along. My midwife said she will be giving me a list at our next visit. I am excited to prepare for it, I have been waiting so long!! Definitly an odd list compared to the one you take to the hospital; toothbrush, lotion, baby clothes....!!! I am excited to be in my own home with my husband and other two children by my side. Hope all goes well, and FAST for you!

If you have delivered in a hospital, they most likely already gave you those panties....i only wore them for a day after my twins were born...witch hazel...OMFG, i love that crap.

Big warning - you need to get alcohol free witch hazel!!!! I got the generic target stuff without thinking, and it has alcohol which is going to HURT. Sharing so nobody else has the extra pain while healing.
