Just like she had no trouble being uber-candid about wedding planning, Kelly Clarkson's not holding anything back about her pregnancy. In the latest issue of Parade, the pop singer honestly dished about looking forward to being pregnant (the interview was given before her big baby announcement!) and what having a baby means for her in terms of weight and body image.
Kelly openly admitted, “Everybody calls me fat all the time, so I can’t wait to have a reason, instead of everybody just being a jerk!” And when asked how she thinks she'll lose her baby weight, she replied, "I’ve never been Gisele Bündchen, so ain’t nobody expectin’ that! I like to set a [low] standard so people don’t expect a lot.”
HA. Wow! She's almost making tell-it-like-it-is Kristen Bell look a little stuffy!
I kid, I kid. Really, this is just further proof that she has the most hilarious, laidback, positive attitude about her pregnancy -- and all that comes with it, at least in terms of how it'll change her body during and after.
You'd have to be living under a rock to not have noticed how fellow famous moms like Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson were treated in the press while pregnant and after. While it's impossible to think Kelly won't be subjected to similar nastiness, it seems like she's able to recognize it as nonsense. She's over-the-moon about being a mama-to-be (as she should be!), and she should enjoy it. Not sweat bullets over her weight or impending weight loss program.
Fingers crossed Kelly really does and will continue to turn a blind eye to negative noise and unhealthy, cruel pressures so she can focus on what truly matters during and after her pregnancy. And I only wish and hope that more celeb and non-famous mamas are doing it, too.
Do you agree with Kelly's take on baby weight gain and loss?
