Simon Cowell is taking this whole 'bad boy' thing far too seriously. I mean, it's one thing to make your name in the States as the sneering Brit eager to crush the dreams of the young and deluded, but it's another to impregnate the wife of your best friend. Our boy Simon wasn't keen to stop there.
Oh no, now that he and his pregnant girlfriend Lauren Silverman are coupled up and waiting for baby, he's kicked things up a notch. Cowell was photographed smoking a cigarette in the car beside pregnant Lauren. Ah! What decade is this that he thinks that's okay?! WHAT CENTURY, EVEN?

For all his public displays of gruffness, I've never once mistaken Simon Cowell for an idiot. But with this latest development, I've been forced to rethink my stance. It doesn't make me think much of Lauren either. In the photographs she's staring out of her open car window. If she thinks that concession to the smoker beside her is going to save her baby from the effects of second-hand smoke, she's as much to blame as he is.
I just can't get over the audacity of his actions. If you look at his face, he could not care less that he's been caught in the act of endangering his own unborn child. Simon's never espoused a real interest parenting, swearing he will never change a diaper and will be more interested when the child is "older." But still, you'd think he'd have the decency to at least care whether the kid lives or dies. I'm not the only one who thinks so. A rep from the Action on Smoking and Health had this to say:
Studies show that babies born to women who were exposed to secondhand smoke during pregnancy are at greater risk of having a low birth weight, congenital abnormalities, and are also at increased risk of dying shortly after birth.
With Simon's 40-plus cig a day habit, he's putting not just his own health and Lauren's at risk -- but his baby's too.
Do you think Lauren owes it to her baby to take serious action if Simon doesn't quit smoking?
