When Nadia Watson woke up in the middle of the night last year with bad stomach cramps, she didn't think much of them. It was just that time of the month again, she thought. She was able to make her way to the bathroom just before she doubled over in pain. Suddenly, she was overcome by the desire to push -- so she pushed and pushed. And to her shock, she gave birth to a 7-pound, 11-ounce girl right there on the bathroom floor. While her boyfriend slept through her shrieking and screaming.
The 22-year-old is one of few women in the world who might as well be nature fairies as far as I'm concerned. I mean, she made it through nine months of pregnancy without having a clue that she was carrying another human being! Her monthly periods continued as normal, she gained a few pounds but never had to abandon her U.K. size 10 clothing for awful maternity frocks, and the only discomfort she felt was back pain, which she attributed to working her butt off at two jobs.
Please give this woman a medal or a year of free cocktails or something.
Add to this the fact that she's a saint for not murdering her snoozing boyfriend Lewis McSweeney: He not only slept through her labor cries, but then reportedly woke up for a second to meet his daughter before falling back asleep (what?!). I think we've truly found our Woman of the Year.
Jokes aside, this really is a great story with a happy ending. After hearing Nadia's screams, concerned neighbors called the police and an ambulance arrived shortly after her delivery to take mom and baby to the hospital. One year later, they are healthy and well, and mom has given her daughter the adorable name Poppy.
She's now telling her story and I hope I'm not the only one who is rubbing her (pregnant) belly and wondering how Nadia didn't feel the fullness in her body or the kicks. Did her breasts not blow up into comical super-porn boobs? Didn't she feel the hardness of her tummy? I mean, you can't confuse that with muscle.
Or is she simply the luckiest woman on earth?
Do you believe a woman can be pregnant and not know it?
