Halle Berry Gives Birth Like Every Older Mom Should

Love It! 28

halle berry olivier martinezHalle Berry gave birth yesterday! Instead of being happy about it, people roll their eyes and complain that we celebrate celebrity baby births too much. There is so much news coverage and people who have never met the pregnant Hollywood star rejoicing over the arrival or a little boy or girl. But I feel as if Halle Berry is different than many of the celebs who are having babies. She's what some will call of advanced maternal age. (Insert my own eye roll here) She's old. Too old to have babies, some believe. I wholeheartedly disagree.

I think 47-year-old Halle Berry sets a great example of how older moms can do everything younger moms can do. And the details about her birth further prove why we should all be celebrating.

It's a boy! A healthy baby boy! Of course I'd be just as excited if she had another girl. But I love how so far there are no details about a complicated birth, and her pregnancy seemed to be without any major concerns. A little over a week ago Halle was seen in a gorgeous, low cut dress, looking beautiful. She sheds light on how it is possible for older women to have a healthy pregnancy and a thriving baby. This is how it can and should be done.

This is baby number two for Halle, whose daughter Nahla with Gabriel Aubry is 5. Halle and new dad Olivier Martinez are said to be overjoyed and Olivier hasn't left Halle's side at Cedars Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles. Nahla has also visited her mom and baby brother.

Back in the Spring, Halle said referring to her age:

This has been the biggest surprise of my life, to tell you the truth. Thought I was kind of past the point where this could be a reality for me. So it's been a big surprise and the most wonderful.

A beautiful, healthy surprise. Forty-three-year-old Gwen Stefani is gearing up for baby number 3 in style, too.

Congrats to the family!

Do you think Halle is too old to have a baby?

Ugh, I would hope that wouldn't be me. I already have 3 at 27 and my tubes are tied, if it happened then me, more then likely I would be a grandmother at that time as well (my oldest is 7). That being said, if it did happen, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

I don't see how it would be anyone else's business how old she is.   I'm happy that she has two healthy children and that she's okay.  As a forty something woman with a four year old yes she wears me out, but I'm a better mom than what I would've been in my twenties.  Unfortunately many women are struggling with infertility because 15 years ago we were told that we could have kids as long as we were having regular periods.  I'm glad to see that she overcame the odds.

Shes 47? Holy batman. I would have said 41ish. Although im glad she was able to give birth, I think many of the older hollywood moms give false hope to average people who do not have the means for extensive infertility treatments. Many women keep pushing back having babies and thinking oh theres plenty of time, ill have babies in my forties etc like all these other women, without fully realizing how difficult it may be, maybe impossible, even with expensive treatments. I understand women need to get an efucation, build their careers etc but many are in for a rude surprise when they actually start trying to have a baby. My cutoff age was 30. I was just too worried about birthdefects.

My grandmother had three children in her 40s. My uncle, my mom, and at 47, my aunt.

Ummm...Halle is a multibillionaire with access to above top notch medical care, personal trainers, dieticians, etc. Technically I would think she is physically much younger than her numerical age. Most women of civilian calibre do not have the advantages nor the health that Halle does. Big difference in reproductive standards.
