The Reason Behind 'Teen Mom' Mackenzie Douthit's Second Pregnancy Is Hard to Believe

Stuck in Reality 97

mackenzie douthit josh mckeeEver since news leaked that Mackenzie Douthit is pregnant with baby number two, the Teen Mom 3 star has been fielding a lot of criticism. She isn't even 19! And her second pregnancy came before she and Josh McKee even got married!

Why would a girl who fought a hard fight with her mom to get herself on birth control to prevent a second pregnancy make a move so many are calling dumb? She's finally given the world an answer ... and, well, it's interesting.

Challenged on Twitter about baby number two, Mackenzie challenged her critics right back:

If a doctor told you your body would no longer be able to have babies after the age 21. And your married and 19. What would you do?

Well, when you put it that way ...

I can't say that the doctor's order to Mackenzie really makes that much sense to me. Generally practitioners don't begin putting an age limit on procreation until women are much older than the Teen Mom. She's 19, not 39.

But Mackenzie does have health problems, including type one diabetes, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that her doctor might have told her that she may have limitations on childbearing. It happens to women all the time.

The question is what would you do? If a doctor did tell you that you didn't have that much time left to have a baby, and you really wanted one?

Would you start going at it like rabbits just to make it happen, just to make sure that the opportunity doesn't pass you by?

Fellow Teen Mom 3 star Briana DeJesus joked that Mackenzie should "have sex til ur vagina explodes."

And, well, I get it. I'm a one and done mom here, and I feel so strongly that one is right for my family that I can understand how a woman might feel that she NEEDS two or three or whatever number seems "right" for her family. Sometimes you just "know" deep down what is right for you, and you do what you have to do to make it happen.

What do you think of Mackenzie's explanation? What would you do in her shoes?

I have health issues from a car accident, and have received similiar advice. She is very young, but diabetes at the level she has it is very serious. With all due respect, pregnancy can be very hard on a woman's body-along with all the accompanying stuff like weight gain. I know I have to approach my doctor when I decide to.

first of all she was 12 weeks pregnant when she got married. So why is she saying I was married when I decide to have another baby. Wishing her all the best having two kids so close is hard.

I did have this situation. I had ovarian cancer at 19, and the doctor told me I had five years to have kids.. I hadn't even started dating at that point, so it was a rough situation. I changed my career goals, and I waited for the perfect man to come along. Then I waited until we were married and in a house. We got pregnant 6 months after getting married, when I was 22. Once we had her, I was told that the medical field has been changing so much in the last few years that they were able to change their minds and I no longer have a time limit. I'm so glad I didn't rush out and get pregnant at 19 to have as many babies as possible before they took out my reproducive organs! But, it did make me drastically change my career choices. Thankfully my life is much better than I ever hoped it could be.

Depends on how badly her diabetes is out of control. Based on some things that have come to light about her first pregnancy, it doesn't seem like she's taking great care of it. Mine is in pretty good control, but I've been diabetic for over 20 years and was told I'd be better off having my children before 30. The chance of getting "brittle diabetes" during pregnancy which makes it almost impossible to stay in good health and live a long, complication free life, increases with age.

I actually know someone who was told that she wouldnt be able to have kids after 21 due to something wrong with her body, so she had both of her two kids at 19 and 20..... I would do it too

So young!! Maybe it is due to her health problems, but still so young to be pregnant with her second. As long as she is medically supervised,  she should be fine.

If I was told I only had so much time left to even consider having more babies and my husband and I both knew we wanted to try at least one more time I would do everything in my power to make it happen in whatever time I had left. Im 21 and pregnant with #2 and that's because hubby and I both knew we wanted kids young and we both wanted to have an age gap of less than 3 years between kids. Our daughter will turn 2 a little over 3 months before my due date.

who cares what she does with her life? Really? We have more important things going on in this world than giving a crap about a nobody having kids.
