Women Who Buy & Sell Positive Pregnancy Tests Online Should Be Ashamed

Rant 14

pregnancy testEarlier this year, a woman made news for putting a used, positive pregnancy test up for sale on Craigslist. We were aghast that someone would have the audacity to do this and in disbelief that anyone would actually want to buy such a thing. Turns out that plenty of people want them, and plenty of women are popping up across the country to make a pretty penny peeing on pregnancy sticks.

From Houston to Chicago and New York, there are advertisements for the positive pregnancy tests offering them for $20-40 apiece, according to the New York Daily News. Some try to market them creatively, offering options for their use. An ad from New Jersey reads: "Wanna get your boyfriend to finally pop the question? Play a trick on mom, dad, or one of your friends?"

In other cases, women are posting with stories as to why they need the tests ... or just the urine. In Dallas a woman posted a twisted desire for revenge on an ex-boyfriend who cheated on her and got another woman pregnant. She wrote:

We had been trying for another (baby). He texted and said he isn't sure who he wants to be with and I think I handled it well for what a cheating lying dog he is. I would like the last laugh out of this. I will give some girl $40.

I will come to you wherever you want to meet.

I feel her pain, but wow, what a mean trick to play on anyone. No one should go there, and no pregnant woman should want to be part of something so awful. Those tests should be sacred, not something with which to swindle or scare.

Sure it's an easy way to make money, but some things just shouldn't be for sale. A pregnant woman's pee is one of them.

Would you ever sell a positive pregnancy test? Would you buy one?

While I don't agree with the use of fake pregnancies to get back at people, I could see the practical joke side of it. Imagine having a hysterectomy and surprising your husband with a positive pregnancy test...might be hilarious if your husband has that kind of sense of humor. Either way, I don't really see how it is my business what another woman does with her pee.

This is horrible! I can't believe women would stoop down so low. I'm currently pregnant and would never do something like this not even for all the money in the world. Who knows to what extreme a woman who buys a pregnancy test like this might go to. Lie to her BF or husband, pretend she's pregnant and a few months later even kidnap a baby to say its her! This has happened many times before and I wouldn't want to be part of that. If you need money that desperately then go do what the rest of us do.....go get a job and stop looking for an easy way out!
