The Royal Baby Name Everyone Is Betting On

Hot List 33

Kate Middleton and Prince William's royal baby is due, like, any minute now! The big questions, of course, are whether she will have a boy or a girl, and what the name will be. Place yer bets, place yer bets here! No, seriously, people are placing their bets. London betting houses are running the odds on the heir to the throne's name and certain ones have risen to the top of the betting pile. Best odds are that Kate's baby will be a girl, so the top four names are girl names. This speculation no doubt stems from Kate's "I will take this for my d -- " slip up. Though supposedly Prince Harry had revealed that the baby would be a boy. But one thing is for sure: Anyone who is willing to bet on the baby being named Chardonnay or Brooklyn can make a lot of money -- if it happens! Here are the top 20 royal baby name with the best odds.

1. Alexandra

This has been the top pick throughout Kate's pregnancy. It's one of Queen Elizabeth's middle names.

2. Charlotte

This is the middle name of Kate's sister Pippa. Queen Charlotte reigned in the 1760s and was widely thought to have African ancestry, making her the first "black Queen."

3. Elizabeth

This is, of course, the reigning monarch and Prince William's grandmother's name.

4. Victoria

Queen Victoria was the longest reigning female monarch in history, ruling for 63 years and eight months. She ushered in an age of extreme morality. Hopefully a new Victoria won't be so uptight.

5. George

This name has been used by six Kings. Seems a tad old-fashioned for the couple.

6. Diana

This would obviously be a nod to Prince William's mother, who tragically died in a car accident when he was a boy. She's still a public favorite. I suspect if Diana is left out of the baby's name entirely, there will be an outcry.

Here are the next frontrunners in order of odds:

7. James

8. Alice

9. Alberta

10. Mary

11. Grace

12. Eleanor

13. Philip

14. Maud

15. Matilda

16. Arthur

17. Florence

18. Alexander

19. Catherine/Kate

20. Louis

Long shots include: Chardonnay (250/1); Rafa (500/1); Elvis (500/1); Peaches (500/1); Brooklyn (1,000/1).

Check out the rest here. You can also bet on the baby's sex, due date, and hair color. Most people believe a brunette baby girl named Alexandra will be born today!

What would you bet on?

As long as they don't give the baby some stupid trendy name (which I'm sure they won't) like Nevaeh or Jaxsin I think all will be well with the world. Can you imagine Queen Nevaeh? Blah! I love the idea of Diana!

Pauline Mahan

I like the name Diana Elizabeth Grace

Flora Jones

alexzandra elizabeth.

Anita Chapman

Doesn't matter, they will likely use three or four of them anyway!

Estee Wilcox

Sorry but Charlotte was not black. There is a theory out there, unproven, that she had African ancestry, but even if that is true then it gives her one black ancestor who lived in the 13th century. Charlotte was born in the 18th century. I don't agree that having a black person in your family 500 years before you were born makes you black. Nor do I agree that that would make anyone descended from Charlotte and alive today black, as the linked article asserts.

As for the royal baby, I like Alexandra, but am hoping for Charlotte. Also, I understand the reasons behind most of the names on this list, except Maud. I will have to go google "Maud British royalty" or something now...
