'16 & Pregnant' Star Starts Hawking Weight-Loss Shakes 2 Seconds After Giving Birth

danielle cunninghamThere's never any harm in wanting to get healthier, but there is a little harm when you try to cut corners to achieve weight loss at an unnaturally rapid pace. Take 16 & Pregnant star Danielle Cunningham. The reality star just had her second child, an adorable little girl, a few days ago and she's already tweeting about how much weight she wants to lose

She says she has 30 pounds to shed and is going to start a weight-loss shake diet next week to help her get there, and fast.

She claims that ViSalus helps her lose poundage really fast, and there's no doubt it does. When you're only drinking two "nutrient rich" protein shakes a day, you're bound to shed inches. I can't say whether or not it's healthy, but when it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Plus, Danielle is employed by the company. Whatever she says about the brand is obviously going to be more positive than truthful.

But all that aside, it's always a little bit of a bummer to hear that some women feel like they need to return to their pre-pregnancy weight in a hurry. They don't! The old saying holds true: it took nine months to put on the weight, and it'll take nine months to take it off.

Danielle's decision to go on a shake-only diet right after baby doesn't sound that smart, but it's her call. Just wish she'd realize there's no reason to rush things. There's so much to focus on right now -- caring for a newborn takes, surprise!, a lot of energy -- maybe losing weight should go on the back-burner for a while.

Did you feel pressure to lose the baby weight really fast?

I say you give up your body for nine months to bake a baby. The moment the child is out your body is your own again. I lost my baby weight without effort or diet change with BOTH my kids within 3 months. If a woman wants to take time or simply takes time to lose the weight thats her perogative and its not a bad thing but if she wants to lose the weight as fast as she can also her perogative

I didn't feel pressure to lose weight but I did enjoy all of the compliments that I received for how fast I lost weight :)

I am 5 months post partum and still have 17 pounds to lose. I am dieting and exercising, and also nursing. I was not one of the lucky ones who had breastfeeding as a miracle weight loss cure.
I really hate that people expect me to be this skinny mini when, even though I'm trying, it might not happen for a while. I already hate my body enough right now, I don't need a constant reminder that I'm not as lovely as I once was.

Healthy eating combined with breastfeeding helps to lose the weight with hardly any effort.

ViSalus isn't "just two shakes a day"... Wow, what an unresearched article! You replace breakfast and lunch with the shakes, but also have healthy snacks throughout the day and eat whatever you want for dinner.
I use the same shake mix, as well as my sister who lost 117lbs in 10 months after giving birth.
It's not a "too good to be true" miracle diet, it just works. Plain & simple. And no, I don't work for the company.

That is ridiculous. You aren't supposed to eat whatever you want and gain tons of weight. Its really bad for the baby. The older you are, the more likely you are to gain easier and lose slower. I was 20, in great shape when i got pregnant. I gained 30 pounds total and after giving bith, i was 10 pounds over my prebaby weight. I lost those ten pounds in two or three weeks. Without much effort. Youll notice most of the teem moms were never overweight.

I lost weight while I was pregnant and I am six months post partum, and have lost 80 more lbs.
