The Secret to Kate Middleton's Maternity Style

kate middletonKate Middleton's gotten props for just about every maternity look she's chosen so far, so it's no surprise that her latest style is winning rave reviews. Dressed to impress for the 60th anniversary of her grandmother-in-law Queen Elizabeth II's coronation, Kate arrived at Westminster Abbey with Prince William and brother-in-law Prince Harry wearing something old, something new, and her something blue (her sapphire engagement ring, of course!). The old: A Jane Taylor fascinator she's worn before and her favorite nude LK Bennett heels, which I so covet. The new: A peachy lace, empire-waisted Jenny Packham dress and coat.

All in all, the effect is just lovely. Not to mention that it looks so comfortable. Well, I guess it helps that the outfit was custom-made for the Duchess!

Living in a palace and being married to a prince must be fabulous, but wow, one of the best parts of being royalty -- pregnant royalty -- has to be getting bespoke outfits! Imagine how much more comfortable and sophisticated you might feel if all of your outfits -- or even just a handful of them -- were tailored to your pregnant body! Geeze, even if you aren't pregnant, there are days you probably wish you had a few more outfits that fit you just right that you could throw on and feel fabulous in.

Maybe we can't all have bespoke designer dresses made for us when we're eight months along, but we can get dresses and pants and tops tailored more from time to time! Given my 4'11" pear-shaped-but-petite figure, getting hems and shoulders taken up and in is something I've gotten used to having to do on the regular. I figure when I'm pregnant, it'll be no different ... or I'll actually have to step up my game a bit more in order to make dressing my baby bumpin' self less of a headache. And when that day comes, I'll remember it was a lesson learned from the one and only Duchess Catherine -- and I hope that will make me feel far less harried and much more fabulous.

Do you wish you could have had your maternity clothes custom-made? What do/did you do to feel more comfortable and fashionable while pregnant?
