Is the Size of Kate Middleton's Baby Bump Cause for Concern? (VIDEO)

Mom Moment 39

Kate MiddletonKate Middleton's pregnancy style has been impeccable so far, and the pricey flowered Erdem dress she wore to a school that offers counseling programs for students who live with drug addicted parents was super cool and cute. But people can't stop talking about her baby bump and the fact that it's not ginormous like so many other celebrities we've seen lately -- such as the bumps of Kim Kardashian and Jessica Simpson. By contrast the Duchess, who is six months along, instead looks about three months along.

A small baby bump could be completely normal -- or not. A bump that is much smaller than average could be a sign of not having enough amniotic fluid. But it could also mean nothing. Could be your baby is lying in a position that doesn't lend itself to a huge bump. Could mean you have a small baby. However, a small bump could also mean your baby isn't growing. High blood pressure can also cause the blood vessels to constrict, also making the bump seem smaller.

Pregnant women should get their baby bumps checked as often as their doctor recommends it to look for signs that the baby is not developing properly. No doubt Kate has excellent doctors and is getting checked every step of the way.

Even if her small bump is indicative of not enough amniotic fluid or that the baby isn't growing normally, I'm sure she and the baby will get the best care imaginable.

A small bump isn't any more of an indicator of an unhealthy pregnancy than a large one is -- large bumps can also mean too much amniotic fluid or diabetes. Or it could just mean you've got a big baby, or one who is lying sideways.

And some women go most of their pregnancy looking small and then suddenly erupt like a small mountain in the last weeks of their pregnancies. That could happen to Kate too.

So everyone chill out. Kate is walking around and doing her royal duties, so she's most likely fine.

Did you have a large or small bump?

I gained 13 lbs and wore regular jeans into the hospital to give birth to a full term 7lb 9 oz baby

She was tiny to begin with, the other celebrities you talked about were not. Generally, small women will stay smaller during pregnancy. I measured small throughout my pregnancy and ya know what? I was a smaller woman and had a small baby. People judge women WAY too much! Too big or too small, leave them alone! It's a beautiful time!

I am naturally shaped like Kim K and Jessica, under 5 ft tall and pear shaped. When I was pregnant, my stomach was huge! My kids were all under 7 pounds, but I looked like I was full term at 5 or 6 months. I think it just as a lot to do with torso height and shape.

I looked tiny until the last month of my pregnancy, I was small to begin with and only gained 25 lbs. I was back in my normal clothes within 4 weeks of giving birth... Her small bump is nobody's business and isn't abnormal for a small person. I'm so glad I'm not a celebrity and don't have the world commenting on my body.

with my first baby i didnt start showing until i was 6 months but once that little bump apppeared i started showing more and more everyday, sometimes with the first pregnancy you dont start showing until your 8th or ninth month i dont think kate has any problems or s lying about her due date, you all have to remember she had bad morning sickness and she little to begin with she may have a little baby, my first baby was 6 pounds, i think she looks great let her enjoy this time and her pregnancy without people assuming there is something wrong, thats just going to make her more nervous,

I think it is because Kate is small, she has been getting checked by her doctor. I think Kate looks great with her little baby bump. Who saids that you need a big baby bump?

Although I have only gained a total of 6 lbs so far I am only 18 weeks and have a larger bump than her and I started out with a very flat stomach to begin with

I'd say my bumps were average. With my newest baby my fluid was a little low, so I chugged MORE water every day (I already drink tons) and I think my belly got a bit bigger. It was interesting.

This is ridiculous. She a naturally thin person to begin with. A taller torso has a lot to do with a small bump and how the baby is laying in there. Just leave the girl alone and let her enjoy this awesome time in her life
