Channing Tatum's wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, is baring her baby bump in the May issue of Glamour -- and she looks gorgeous. No, really, she looks gorgeous. We're not talking "Oh, every pregnant woman is beautiful and covered in faerie dust and crushed unicorn horns!" here. Jenna looks legitimately fantastic. Pregnancy clearly suits her well.
But the photo spread. Let's talk about it. Because it isn't your run-of-the-mill pregnant celeb magazine shoot. There's no side boob. No sultry glances off into yonder. No classic looking-down-at-the-belly shots. It's actually just a really adorable -- kind of silly -- photoshoot in which Jenna looks like herself.
Make no mistake, pregnancy is a beautiful time. And a photo of a woman with-child glancing down lovingly at her protruding belly is incredibly sweet, as well as timeless. But let's get real here: It's been done to death.
Seems like any time we see a pregnant celebrity on the cover of a magazine, it's the same thing over and over again. The photos are always stunning, but they tend to convey an overall sense of seriousness and please-look-but-don't-touchness. Demi Moore on the cover of Vanity Fair. Jessica Simpson on the cover of Elle. Christina Aguilera on the cover of Marie Claire. Where's the fun? The silliness? Pregnancy is obviously something to be taken seriously, but Christ, these photoshoots seem almost somber.
Jenna's photos look exactly like pictures she'd take if she weren't pregnant. And that's a good thing, as you don't turn into a completely different person when you're having a baby! You can still smile and wear hipster glasses and seem like you're generally down to earth. It's okay, guys.
Congrats on the awesome photos, Jenna! Oh, and yeah -- congrats on the pregnancy, too.
