When it comes to moms who have bounced back from pregnancy with amazing results, we bow down to Beyonce. If you saw the Super Bowl or get a glimpse of any picture of her on any day, you know that she looks better than ever since Blue Ivy's birth in January 2012. Her slim down is especially impressive in light of her recent reveal that she gained 57 pounds during pregnancy.
That's right, Bey recently told Shape magazine that she packed on nearly 60 pounds while pregnant. That's a lot of pounds. So getting back her rocking body was no small feat, but she managed to so fabulously. So how'd she do it?
She said breastfeeding definitely helped with the first 30 pounds, and they "just fell off". The remaining weight, however, was another story, and she had to work extremely hard.
I stayed away from a lot of red meat, replaced pasta and rice with quinoa, and drank only water. Eliminating all other liquids really brings down the calorie count. Of course, exercising is important, but I think watching what you put into your body is extremely effective in terms of shedding pounds.
She says most days her diet consists of scrambled egg whites, smoothies, fish, and vegetables, however, she says she does give herself a break, and once a week -- usually on Sundays -- indulges in something she loves, like pizza. So she's not perfect, she just looks like she is. As for exercise, she loves to move to music.
For me, dancing is what keeps me active and I would just say, everyone is not supposed to be the same. Be healthy and take care of yourself, but be happy with the beautiful things that make you you.
While I wish she had revealed some special pill or amazing diet we've never heard of that we could all run out grab, the fact is that for most of us, we just have to watch what we eat and exercise, or the pounds won't budge. Sure some are more genetically blessed than others and walk out of the hospital in their skinny genes after delivering (grrrrrr), but most of us have to do more, and it's comforting to know that even Beyonce does too.
As for when she and Jay-Z might think about having more children? She said once "The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour" is over, they may just get on that. Can't wait!
Are you surprised to learn Beyonce gained 57 pounds? How much did you gain during your pregnancy, and was it difficult to shed the pounds?
