Mom Gives Birth to 10-Pound Baby Hours After Learning She's Pregnant

Say What!? 167

baby bumpEvery time I hear one of those stories about a woman who didn't realize she was pregnant until she actually went into labor -- I roll my eyes and shake my head a little bit. It's just so hard to understand how a woman can possibly not know that she's expecting a child, especially when the baby is full term.

But one woman from Jackson, Michigan puts all the other "I had no idea I was pregnant" stories to shame -- because she learned she was pregnant and gave birth to a 10-pound baby on the same day.

(Get. Outta. Town.)

Linda Ackley went to the doctor because she was experiencing bloating in her abdomen. The physician suspected she might have a hernia, so she was sent for a CT scan. And surprise, surprise -- Linda didn't have a hernia. She was pregnant, and based on her scan, she was initially told she'd have the baby in three to four weeks.

But then she had a second ultrasound done, and that's when she was told her baby was full term at 40 weeks or more, and that she'd need to have a C-section immediately.

Shortly after that, baby Kimberly Kay Ackley arrived, weighing in at a whopping 10 pounds, 1 ounce.

OMG. This woman had a baby the size of the average bowling ball in her belly and simply didn't notice? (How in the heck?)

When I was pregnant with my son, there was absolutely NO mistaking what was going on with me. I experienced very early pregnancy symptoms and felt "off" right from the get-go.

After the first trimester, I felt my little guy moving around. I saw every single body part blow up like a balloon. And by the time my due date arrived, I was well aware that I was carrying an 8-pound baby in my belly. For the life of me, I just can't figure out how this woman was expecting a 10-pounder and had no clue.

I know everyone's bodies are different and pregnancy comes with different symptoms for different women, but seriously -- how can you not know?!? HOW??

When did you first realize that you were pregnant?

I've said it before, I just don't buy it. Really a 10 lb healthy baby and you didn't FEEL A  THING?? Denial will make people ignore all kinds of crazy things.

From Jackson Michigan not Mississippi. And I had a 10 pound baby. How do you not freaking know you are having a 10 pound baby.

I had a 10 lb 5 oz baby. He moved around so much and would get his foot caught under my ribs. I don't know how anyone can not know they are pregnant, let alone pregnant with a baby that big. How do you not feel a baby that big move? My stomach would move constantly.

I didn't know I was pregnant until I was almost 5 1/2 months. I had 0 symptoms. No morning sickness, no bloating, no appetite changes, no pains or aches, and I'm extremely fit and while I did put on a few pounds I attributed it to being "winter weight" because I didn't have a bump in any shape or form. I was on seasonique to at the time so not only was I getting my period every 3 months , but i had stopped taking it for a while during the time I was pregnant for medical reasons and I was told that it would take my body a while to regulate back to monthly periods so I thought nothing of it when I missed subsequent periods after I stopped my bc. It's completely possible to realize that you're not pregnant for a while.

I knew I was pregnant the week I missed my period. That sucker came like clockwork every month. After experiencing a pregnancy, I just don't understand these stories. They baffle me, how could you not know?!

For a while, sure, MsRkg. But full term? With a 10lb baby? Come on!

I don't think this case is sooo far fetched. SHe was told she couldn't have children and this is her first baby. Now those moms that have already had a kid or two... uh..nope...that is too hard to believe.

She must be really fat and unhealthy to be THAT out of tune with your own body.

@thinker- what I was thinking too.  She has to be obese and maybe with all that fat cushion she could not feel the movement.  Plus maybe she is very gassy due to the unhealthy food she eats and so she just attributed it to gas.
