Kim Kardashian's Divorce Could Be Hurting Her Baby

by Maressa Brown on February 6, 2013 at 7:00 PM

kim kardashianNow that Kim Kardashian is pregnant, I guess we can replace all her divorce drama with pregnancy drama, right? Uh, no. Sources -- including Kris Jenner -- are saying the divorce drama may be leading to pregnancy drama. Okay, rolling your eyes is probably a normal reaction to that, but wait. The latest buzz doesn't sound like something out of an overdramatized reality show script. It actually sounds concerning ...

Sources tell TMZ that several days ago, Kim called her doctor in the middle of the night to come to the house because she was having severe pains. The doctor apparently believed her symptoms were largely stress-related and warned Kim to handle the stress or else there could be "long-term effects." And get this ... just hours before her meeting yesterday with her lawyer, Laura Wasser, Kim's pains returned in full force. Ugh. Clearly, the divorce is taking a serious toll!

Sure, it's easy enough to blow off a rumor like this as made-up, planted, exaggerated for publicity reasons, but I dunno, guys ... Kim has seemed stressed about the divorce for quite some time (in Kourtney & Kim Take Miami, which was filmed over the summer, she's seen occasionally taking calls from Wasser and freaking out). And since divorce proceedings seem to only be getting more drawn-out and hairy, I wouldn't be surprised if she's even more stressed out than she was then.

Kris Jenner corroborated the story up on The View this morning, saying:

Kim has been going through this divorce for months. She has been under a lot of stress because of it, and the doctors told her you’ve had a really tough week, and the stress could become a problem if she isn't careful.

Sounds like something Kim better not be taking lightly. We're always so go-go-go in our everyday lives that we often underestimate the power of stress on our physical health or even during a pregnancy. Sure, pregnant women are encouraged to slow down in certain ways (sitting down on public transportation, avoiding air travel after a certain point in the pregnancy, etc.), but it doesn't seem like we're talking enough about the emotional or mental stressors pregnant women could be facing that could have very real, troubling side effects.

With Kim's stress negatively affecting her pregnancy/health, there's no time to waste. She should get thee to an ashram (as my mom joked I'll have to do when I'm pregnant one day, because I'm especially stress-prone) -- or at least some kind of stress management counseling, meditation, yoga, etc. The sooner, the better off baby Kimye ... and Kim herself will be.

Do you agree we underestimate the power of stress? How did you handle it when you were pregnant?

She has the power to make all that stress go away. Give him the annulment.

He could, but she doesn't have any control over what he does and she shouldn't risk her baby hoping he'll see things her way.

She should give him the annulment and be done with it. In some circles, a divorce disqualifies you from holding certain positions.

I don't get people saying he's money hungry. Doesn't an annulment mean you aren't entitled to money, because it's like the marriage never happened? I'm genuinely curious.

She could have waited to get pregnant at a time where she wasn't married to another man, thus eliminating the stress that is causing this baby harm. However, she's selfish and does what she wants- it only just now seems to be effecting someone completely innocent. :-(

Stress can send you into early labor and I know that from experience not just me but other women I met in the NICU.  For a lot of us the doctors were blaming stress  but it was stuff we had no control over.  Kim needs to do some soul searching and decide what is most important to her which I hope is her child and act accordingly.  I don't know all the specifics of her divorce but I do know what its like to have a baby early and she does not want that.  The most un-natural thing in the world after you've given birth is to go home without your baby after months of planning to do just that.

Please. The worst thing for Kim's baby is having Kim and Kayne as parents
