Kate Middleton sure hit the jackpot when she landed Prince William. He's handsome. Seems like a nice guy. He's a f*cking prince. But life with Bill isn't all it's cracked up to be. See, it's royal tradition to give birth at the Palace, and, well, what if Katie doesn't want a homebirth? This could be awkward.
Princess Diana bucked the tradition and gave birth in a hospital, so apparently, you know, birthing how you please isn't totally off the table. And truth be told, knowing Kate like I do, I'd be surprised if she didn't follow in her mother-in-law's footsteps and find a nice, cozy hospital to welcome the future King or Queen of England. But whether you're for homebirths or against them, doesn't it have to be a little awkward -- and add a crazy layer of pregnancy stress -- to learn that you're expected to give birth in a certain manner?
Typically, where and how a birth is going to take place is a decision between Mom and Dad. It's a conversation you have when expecting. And let's face it, at the end of the day, it's ultimately up to Mom since she's the one doing all the work. I have heard of instances where a Mom and Dad have differing opinions on how things should go down, but, unsurprisingly, they've pretty much always fallen in the Mom's favor. Hard to compete with the whole "I'm giving birth" argument.
But add a Queen to the mix and gadzooks things get awkward! When Kate and Wills decide how their childbirth is going to go, they're going to have to inform yet another third party. That's a lot of pressure for a pregnant lady.
Like I said, I do think the Duke and Duchess will wind up giving birth in a hospital. Just a hunch. They've seemed to eschew plenty of royal traditions already, so what's one more? I just hope Queen E takes the news well, if that's the case. The last thing Kate needs is a pissed off granny-in-law when she goes into labor.
Did you give birth in a hospital or at home?

Prince William was born in a hospital as was his brother... how is homebirth "Royal Tradition"?
When you look at the facts, home births prior to Diana were 'tradition' because EVERYONE had a birth at home- it was abnormal for a child to be born in the hospital. Hospital births are a relatively new concept.
I'm not sure why she wouldn't want to have her child at the palace... really, in my opinion, what could be a better place? What makes the hospital better? She'd have everything and anything... seems silly to think that any English hospital would be a better choice.
I like to think Dr. Who was right, they give birth at home because they're Werewolves. It would explain quite a bit to be honest.
