Kate Hudson's Birth Story Shows Why Moms Should Be Kicked Out of the Delivery Room

If you are considering having your mom in the delivery room with you, Kate Hudson's birth story may convince you to rethink that plan. The actress's mom Goldie Hawn was by her side during her 18-hour labor with son Bingham and what went down was nothing short of bizarre. And by bizarre, I don't mean putting on bronzer and false eyelashes on the gurney -- a la Snooki. Oh no my friends, Goldie brought a whole other level of looniness (and hilarity) to the miraculous moment.
The wackiness began as soon as Kate phoned to let the First Wives Club star know she was ready to pop. "I called my mom to tell her I'm in the hospital and in labor," she said during a recent sit-down with Ellen DeGeneres. "And she was like okay, well how much time do I have because I was going to take a swim. I'm just like, 'Can you get here in an hour?' She shows up and I have not eaten in like 10 hours. She shows up with a pizza and Doritos! She's like, 'I'm starving!'"

As if it wasn't already, the sitch gets really weird from that point on. "She wants to be in control of everything," Hudson explained. "She puts on these reading glasses that have headlights on them. So now my mom, I'm looking up. I have my doctor and my mom kind of looking over with these headlights."
Wait, there's more. Goldie, who is all about a New Age, spiritual lifestyle, pulls out a prop to help Kate get through the painful labor: "She brings a magnolia flower. She brings this large magnolia. And she starts to do these visualizations with me. She's going, 'Imagine your va-jay-jay as a large magnolia flower blossoming.'"
Crazy right? The only good thing is that this nutty scene is so funny it might make you forget all about the contractions. Gotta love mom for trying to help out, but I am not sure I would have the patience for it. I chuck this whole scenario up as yet another reason to kick everyone besides daddy and the doctor and nurses out of the delivery room.
Did you have any unusual or wacky experiences during birth?

My mom was the only person there with me at the hospital. She was great about everything I was in labor for 16 hours and she never left my side. She rubbed my back and my feet, made sure I was as comfortable as I could be. She took care of me and everything else. My sons father has never been in the picture I was young 18 so my friends were all out parting. My sister had a baby of her own she had to take care of so it was just me and mom. My mom was great with out her support I couldn't have done it. So I would say if your mom is kind of crazy maybe not but if shes not no one will support and help you the way your mom would.

That's a beautiful story. Your firstborn is lucky and you'll always have that very special memory to share with him. Stay strong for your Mom! My prayers are with her.
