If you are considering having your mom in the delivery room with you, Kate Hudson's birth story may convince you to rethink that plan. The actress's mom Goldie Hawn was by her side during her 18-hour labor with son Bingham and what went down was nothing short of bizarre. And by bizarre, I don't mean putting on bronzer and false eyelashes on the gurney -- a la Snooki. Oh no my friends, Goldie brought a whole other level of looniness (and hilarity) to the miraculous moment.
The wackiness began as soon as Kate phoned to let the First Wives Club star know she was ready to pop. "I called my mom to tell her I'm in the hospital and in labor," she said during a recent sit-down with Ellen DeGeneres. "And she was like okay, well how much time do I have because I was going to take a swim. I'm just like, 'Can you get here in an hour?' She shows up and I have not eaten in like 10 hours. She shows up with a pizza and Doritos! She's like, 'I'm starving!'"

As if it wasn't already, the sitch gets really weird from that point on. "She wants to be in control of everything," Hudson explained. "She puts on these reading glasses that have headlights on them. So now my mom, I'm looking up. I have my doctor and my mom kind of looking over with these headlights."
Wait, there's more. Goldie, who is all about a New Age, spiritual lifestyle, pulls out a prop to help Kate get through the painful labor: "She brings a magnolia flower. She brings this large magnolia. And she starts to do these visualizations with me. She's going, 'Imagine your va-jay-jay as a large magnolia flower blossoming.'"
Crazy right? The only good thing is that this nutty scene is so funny it might make you forget all about the contractions. Gotta love mom for trying to help out, but I am not sure I would have the patience for it. I chuck this whole scenario up as yet another reason to kick everyone besides daddy and the doctor and nurses out of the delivery room.
Did you have any unusual or wacky experiences during birth?

I couldn't have done my second labor without my MIL. It was my husbands first child so he was clueless but she kept telling him what to do, "Rub her back, let her squeeze your hand" and such. Our son had serious breathing problems after he was born and had to be sent to a Children's Hospital almost 100 miles away from our home. After I got to spend a few minutes alone with him everyone else got to come see him before being air-lifted out. We were talking about his first name, we had a few we liked but couldn't pick one she says his name should be Samuel after her late husband. He responded to it by turning his head at the name, so Samuel it was. A year later we still joke about how he got his name.
As a single mom, I was so blessed and happy to have my mom, who is also my best friend, by my side during my son's birth. I don't know that I could have done it without her, even if the situation had been different, even if I would have had a husband by my side as well. My mom played a huge role in my birth experience, and I'm really thankful for that-- I wouldn't want it any other way.
11 people in the delivery room! Hubs, Mom, dad, stepdad, sisters, bestfriend and staff. The doc came in from his own xmas vacation to labor with me! Yes you read right. He said to me looking around at everyone in the room "you ok with this?" I said "yeah, are you ok?" He said "Oh sure." Everyone took turns doing something. My pervy dad had to keep walking back and forth pretending to not "look." He and my sister would argue from each side of me — like a tennis match, with me ref'ing and panting. Male nurse with HUGE hands tried to turn baby [back labor] stating "I'd never do this to someone without drugs." My daughter came out so fast on the last push, Doc scrambled to catch her. Cheers and tears. Like a wacky scene out of "Home for the Holidays" only we had a baby instead of turkey. : )
I had my husband, my mother in law and my best friend ( our daughter's godmother) all in there. It was nice to have all three, because if one got tired and wanted to go for a walk or get something to eat or take a nap, i still had someone else with me. Now mind you; this was our second child so we thought it would go quick; well lets just say 36 hrs later she was born. I am so glad I had all three of them with me and when it came to push i had two holding my legs and one rubbing my shoulders. They were all my cheerleaders and I would not have changed a thing!
My mom kept asking if I wanted herto leave when I was in labor with my first, I finally looked at her and said, "MOM! THERE IS A BABY COMINGOUT MY VAJAYJAY! I DON'T CARE WHAT YOU DO!" It was pretty funny. I'm so glad she was there, because out of 12 (at the time) grandkids, Charley is the only one she's seen born and she loved it. They share a special bond.
My mother has not, nor will she ever see my youngest son. When the nurse asked if there was anyone who I did NOT wish to be in the room, I said "my mother, and if she does show up, have her arrested for violating a restraining order!" (she is the reason I had my second miscarriage by kicking me in the stomach)
