Tori Spelling's Pregnant Bikini Photo Should Make All Women 'Bump Proud'

by Julie Ryan Evans on August 13, 2012 at 2:38 PM

Tori SpellingNormally when it comes to dissecting every outfit and wrinkle a star sports, I believe everyone is free to express her opinion, and that when stars put themselves out there, they have to expect criticism. But when it comes to all these haters coming down on Tori Spelling for daring to wear a bikini while pregnant, I'm feeling all sorts of furious.

First of all, she looks incredible! The woman is pregnant with her fourth child, and she looks better than half the women I've seen in bikinis at the beaches this summer.

Second of all, what kind of horrible people berate pregnant women? They should be able to wear whatever they want and get nothing but "you look amazing" in return. That's far from what Tori got, however.

On her website she posted a sampling of the hateful comments she received after being seen in a bikini and monokini while at the pool with her family. Things like:

“Too much showing. Not suitable for a pregnant mom with a seven-month-old.”

“Ewww. She’s pregnant! Cover that bump up! No one wants to see that!!”

“NOT motherly AT ALL. In future years she will surely regret that unflattering picture. COVER up girl!”

So rude! But Tori isn't letting all the talk get her down. Instead she took to her blog to defend her bump pride and tweeted this gorgeous photo. She shouldn't have to defend her swimsuit choices, but she did so with class and a self confidence I wish all women had. She wrote:

I have to say, I’m super proud of my bump. Why should I be embarrassed and cover up something that’s the greatest gift a woman can experience? A pregnant woman in any shape or size is beautiful! Pregnancy is an amazing journey and we preggers should be able to show it off. I call it BUMP PROUD! Embrace your growing curves and bourgeoning [sic] belly.

Right on, Tori! As for setting an example for her daughter, she said:

Please. I’m making a conscious choice to show my daughters that they can express themselves and be proud as a woman of their bodies. I don't ever want them to think that they should be ashamed of or self-conscious of their bodies, no matter what shape it's in.

If it was possible for me to love her anymore than I did before, I do now. What a wonderful example she is for moms and all women. Bump Proud, indeed!

Did you/do you, will you/would you wear a bikini while pregnant?

I'm not a fan of the look personally but I'm not going to attack someone for wearing a bikini.

It would have been the only time to have a valid excuse to be fat! hahaha!!  I love how the bumps look. Being pregnant suits her very well.

I'm all about showing off my preggo bump; it's the rest of my body that prevents me from wearing a bikini.  ;)

I sure did! I rocked my bikini and loved my bump. I also have the same style body as Tori. I lost my 28 lbs in 2 months too. Back to 114. :)

If you look good in a bikini BEFORE you got pregnant, then it's prob fine to wear one still, but if there's a hefty layer of flab over your baby bump (like, maybe people hesitate to ask if you're pregnant or just fat) then maybe it's not a good idea. Or if you have stretch marks that look like a rabid bear attacked you, lol

Whats wrong with wearing a bikini while pregnant? Hell, I see women who AREN'T pregnant trotting around in them and they don't even look half as good as she does. People need to get over themselves.
