Birth Stories: My Daughter Was Born in a Garage! (VIDEO)

cafemom birth storiesOmg! I can totally relate to Lauren S., the mom featured in the very first episode of CafeMom Studios' Birth Stories: I Gave Birth in a Garage! My daughter, like Lauren's daughter, was born in a big hurry. Unlike Lauren's daughter, however, she was NOT born next to a gray Honda (and for that, I am grateful).

Although I must say, Lauren seemed to take her surprisingly speedy childbirth in stride. As for her mother-in-law?

Well, let's just say that 911 call speaks for itself. Poor grandma! She happened to be walking into the garage, arriving to take care of Lauren's son, just as very preggers mom's water broke. And bless her heart, she was not exactly calm, cool, or collected.

My favorite part? When grandma shouts to the 911 operator, "The baby is OUT!"

So sweet and funny, at least in retrospect. You've gotta hear this one for yourself!

Was your baby born someplace unexpected like a garage?

my name is krissy my daughter was born on the bed she was conceived in. I was 28 weeks when I started leaking amniotic fluid; when I was 30 weeks and 1 day I gave birth. I was in labor for 24 hrs called my doctor and he blew it off cuz I had just done a NST (non stress test) and left the office when I called with concerns. Just so u know Madyson was my first baby. Well for 24 hrs my back just really hurt but it never eased up... finally I jumped in the shower to see if the hot water could help... just then my back stopped hurting thats when I knew i was in labor. So i called my fiance in the bathroom that when I got out and sat on the toilet cuz I thought I needed to go #2 from the pressure but I didnt! My baby was coming I was pushing and robbie (fiance) told me to stand up and there was her head so I moved to the bed he called 911. not even 5 min. (that felt like forever) the ambulance was there they delivered her and rushed us to the hospital she was 30 weeks 3 lbs 1 oz and 16 in long. She'll be 2 in August beat all the odds.

My nephew was born in the car, on the way to the hospital, breach (feet first). Thank goodness his mother lived across the street from a nurse midwife who had jumped in the car with her, while her mom drove. The midwife had, just a week prior, had a refresher course in emergancy breach deliveries. God was all over our families on this one! My nephew was fine, mom didn't even tear. They went on to the hospital, and were both released the following evening.
