Mention that you're going to be pregnant during summer, and you will get a wave of sympathetic groans. Oh no, the heat, and there you will be, all big and bloated. What a terrible time to be REALLY pregnant. Right?
Wrong. While I'd never plan a pregnancy just because I wanted to be pregnant at a certain time of year, I do think summer is the loveliest of times to be sporting a big baby bump. Sure it's hot, but there are plenty of other summery perks that make up for it. Here are seven reasons summer is the best time to be pregnant.
1. Summer Fruit
We know we need our nutrients more than ever when we're eating for two, and fruits are ripe and plentiful this time of year. From berries to peaches, and, hello watermelon, summer provides a whole crop of delicious ways to nurture your growing baby.
2. Sundresses
There's really nothing cuter than a pregnant woman in a summery dress. Plus, talk about comfortable.
3. No Coats!
If you're pregnant in the winter where temperatures go low, you often have to buy a maternity coat. Instead of shelling out dollars for an expensive coat you may only wear one season, spend them on sundresses (which are generally much cheaper) and fruit instead.
4. Ice Cream
With summer comes this delicious frozen treat -- anywhere and everywhere. No ice cream man will pass a pregnant woman by either.
5. Swimming Pools Are Open
There's nothing like floating around weightlessly after walking around for so long with the extra weight.
6. Bellies in Bikinis
While pregnant women in sundresses are adorable, pregnant women in bikinis or hot. Women I know who never wore a bikini in their life before found a whole new confidence in their pregnant bodies and rocked one while expecting.
7. Flip Flops
Swollen pregnancy pups don't always fit in traditional shoes, but flip flops are a godsend.
What do you think is the best time of year to be pregnant?

We have been TTC our first since December...I was hoping to have a baby bump this summer for the beach but no luck so far...very disappointed about this...
I'm pregnant right now and I hate it! I hate the freaking heat! I'm due in August and that is the worst month of the year to be pregnant because no matter how much you are in the water, it's still too darn hot! Not to mention the baby's weight makes you even hotter and more miserable! The air conditioner can't work hard enough! I recommend the beginning of Spring and Fall.
I had my first baby in April, and that was perfect. Not hugely pregnant over the winter, so no worry about a winter coat. He was born when it wasn't too cold or hot for a newborn. it was kind of tough over the summer though since he was really too young to put sunscreen on, etc.
My second baby was born at the end of November. I hated being pregnant over the summer, and I wasn't even huge pregnant. I had no need for a winter coat though since I was huge in the winter! Plently of big belly to keep me warm. It was a little rough having a newborn in the winter, but I'm seeing the advantages of having a bigger baby in the summer.
are you kidding? I live in Texas, and I am miserable. I used to go for lengthy walks every day... and now I cant do more than step out side for a few minutes in the shade without becoming an angry uncomfortable pregnant beast. I wish I could just be naked all the time. Even with the AC on, im ALWAYS HOT. This is awful. I can usually stand 100+ temperatures... but being pregnant- no fucking way. Im campin out inside until the sun goes down for the next month and a half until I have him.
There is nothing cute about being pregnat when its that hot.
3 of my 4 babies were born between august-october. That shit ain't fun
I loved having a newborn in the winter bc theres really nothing better to do during a long Maine winter than sit and snuggle your baby :) My twins were born in June and it was a miserable, swollen month leading up to their birth and a hot sticky summer stuck in the house :/
