Mention that you're going to be pregnant during summer, and you will get a wave of sympathetic groans. Oh no, the heat, and there you will be, all big and bloated. What a terrible time to be REALLY pregnant. Right?
Wrong. While I'd never plan a pregnancy just because I wanted to be pregnant at a certain time of year, I do think summer is the loveliest of times to be sporting a big baby bump. Sure it's hot, but there are plenty of other summery perks that make up for it. Here are seven reasons summer is the best time to be pregnant.
1. Summer Fruit
We know we need our nutrients more than ever when we're eating for two, and fruits are ripe and plentiful this time of year. From berries to peaches, and, hello watermelon, summer provides a whole crop of delicious ways to nurture your growing baby.
2. Sundresses
There's really nothing cuter than a pregnant woman in a summery dress. Plus, talk about comfortable.
3. No Coats!
If you're pregnant in the winter where temperatures go low, you often have to buy a maternity coat. Instead of shelling out dollars for an expensive coat you may only wear one season, spend them on sundresses (which are generally much cheaper) and fruit instead.
4. Ice Cream
With summer comes this delicious frozen treat -- anywhere and everywhere. No ice cream man will pass a pregnant woman by either.
5. Swimming Pools Are Open
There's nothing like floating around weightlessly after walking around for so long with the extra weight.
6. Bellies in Bikinis
While pregnant women in sundresses are adorable, pregnant women in bikinis or hot. Women I know who never wore a bikini in their life before found a whole new confidence in their pregnant bodies and rocked one while expecting.
7. Flip Flops
Swollen pregnancy pups don't always fit in traditional shoes, but flip flops are a godsend.
What do you think is the best time of year to be pregnant?

I was 9 months last summer and we had a horrible heat wave right before my due date, ourair conditioner broke and I thought I was going to die, seriously. Flip flops and fruit are great and all, but I'm crossing my fingers for a fall baby next time,
Unless you end up with gestational diabetes. No ice cream for me and I have to limit the fruit. My ankles are already huge and I 'm not due until August 22! We don't belong to a pool, but my hubby got me a large "family size" blow up pool at target and I plan on spending many afternoons just laying in it like a hippo!
Bikinis might be great if this is your first baby, or you have super stretchy skin and were able to avoid stretchmarks with an earlier one, but I'm due in September and there is no way I'm sticking my big stretched-marked belly out there for all the world to see. No thank you, I will wear a very covering tankini in public.
