Snooki Ditches 'Jersey Shore' House for Baby's Health

by Julie Ryan Evans on May 22, 2012 at 8:59 PM

SnookiCall the Mother of the Year committee, because Snooki, aka Nicole Polizzi, of Jersey Shore just may be in the running. No, I don't mean Child Protective Services, as I might have suspected we'd need to call when we first learned she was pregnant; I mean she's actually shaping up to be a fit parent. Her latest move is so unexpected and so wise, it's downright admirable.

It was impressive enough when she of the perma-orange-Cheeto glow, actually gave up tanning for her baby's health, but this is even bigger and more self-sacrificing than that. She's actually leaving the Jersey Shore house behind.

More from The Stir: Snooki's Wedding Will Be a Guidette's Gaudy Dream Come True

Don't worry, she'll still be on the show, she just won't be in that lair of lewdness with the rest of the gang. She's getting her own place, which a source told E! Online will be close by. That means bye bye smoosh room and STD-scented air, and hello to a fresh new (and more sanitary start) for her new little bambino.  The last thing a pregnant mama needs is loud, drunken roommates coming in at all hours of the night, waking her up with their DTF friends and other escapades. With a pad of her own, she can still hang out with them, but then go home to her own bed.

Snooki herself told E! yesterday that no matter where she lives the smoosh room at least is off limits for her:

I'm definitely taking this pregnancy seriously and with all the bacteria and everyone having sex in the smoosh room its just not where a pregnant person or a baby should be.

Amen to that.

While a pregnant chick in the shore house would certainly make for interesting viewing, it's great to see Snooki setting limits and putting her baby's health first. Her strong maternal instincts would have been hard to image a few months back, but she's proving that while leopards may never change their spots those who like wear lots of leopard print can.

Do you think Snooki is going to make a good mom? Are you shocked she's moving out of the Jersey Shore house?

I'm not surprised at all because becoming a paret tends to change people. Having a wild past does not mean a person will be a bad parent. And I'm honestly getting sick of the articles on here being so negative and always being about tearing people down. I dont think I'll be coming back. I assumed that since this was a website where moms got together to chat and read articles and what not that the nature would be more mature than high school, but I guess I was wrong. Seems to me like most of te authors of these articles were probably stuck up mean girls in high school and they dont seem to have grown out of it

She'll be an amazing mother. Obviously she is selflessly giving things up for her baby. People need to stop judging her solely on what they see on tv. The shows editors can make anyone look bad. Nobody can honestly say they didnt party like she did before they had kids, the only difference is the majority of the population didnt have cameras documenting their bad behavior for the world to see.

She said that she wouldn't be staying in the house when she first announced her pregnancy months ago. This isn't new information.

I didn't/don't watch jersey shore and know very little about her rep but, I can say that I'm not stuck in "shock and awe" mode about her making decent parenting decisions like everyone else seems to be. Good for her. Now let's all move on.

@Christa Lee ... obviously you care or you wouldn't have taken the time to read the article and post about it....I am so sick of the trolls that get on the message boards and claim to be to "cool" to care....when you take the time to read the article and comment we all know you care

This proves she has good upbringing and a good support system. Glad to read she is so mature.
