For the most part, I'm happy my pregnancy has taken place during the cooler months. There hasn't been a lot of sweating on my behalf, and I don't feel like I'm missing out on any fun outdoorsy activities. But one thing I am missing out on is getting to wear the coveted maternity maxi dress.
There really isn't a cuter, more put-together look than a good-fitting maxi when you're pregnant. They always seem to hug the body in all the right places, but most importantly, they're lightweight and super easy to throw on. No-brainer. So, yay you, if you recently found out you're expecting -- maxis are still all the rage this summer. Now ... how to accessorize them to set yourself apart?
Jewelry. Jewelry is one of those things during pregnancy that feels like a God-send. It's one of the few things that still fits, and you're not relegated to shopping in a special section for it. You can buy whatever cute new things are out. And you should! Stock up on some cheapie gold necklaces, bracelets, and earrings. They're a fun way to dress up the usually-casual maxis -- and gold always looks good with a tan.
Headbands. Headbands, bandannas, flowers, whatever. Maxi dresses, by nature, exude a laid-back, almost island kind of vibe, so why not take things a step further and give your hair the same feeling? Super cute.
A good pair of sandals. Shoes, especially sandals, are another thing that still fit during pregnancy, so, please, invest in a good pair -- especially since you, most likely, will be wearing them every day, and especially since you can still wear them when you're not pregnant. I'm always a fan of gold, as it goes with pretty much everything.
A lightweight scarf. Throwing a scarf around your neck (yes, even when it's warm out) always makes things look a bit more stylish and put together. Try pairing your maxi with a bright-colored scarf that can double as a shawl at night.
A vest. Another way to add a little oomph to your maxi is to throw a sleeveless sweater on over it. It gives it sort of a bohemian vibe, and again, it's something you'll most likely be able to get use out of after baby is born.
What is/was your favorite thing to wear while pregnant?

I have stocked up on a couple nice dresses I can wear through the spring and summer on into my third trimester big-ness. Layering is my favorite pregnant fashion... Lacey tank tops underneath a plain teeshirt with a pretty light cardigan...It kind of takes away from the fact that I only have like 2 pair of maternity jeans (they're WAY too expensive! lol)..Im a sucker for cute necklaces and bandanas too :-p
I had a crinkle knit dress with buttons all the way down the front and a lovely embroidered bodice. It was easy to throw on and not worry about it being wrinkled since it was supposed to be that way, and it allowed for an expanding belly since it had an empire waist that sat above. Since it also had buttons at the top, I was able to wear a tank top over my bra and still wear the dress when my boobs grew, and could wear it during breastfeeding after I had the baby, too. :)
I bought a cute shirt from Kohls that I love. It's so comfy.
My least favorite are all my jeans. Not one pair fits correctly and I'm constantly yanking on them.
I just wore sweats most of the time
When I was preggy it was one of few times in my life I wore lots of dresses.
I just wanted to wear the softest shirts I could find.
I loved some of the maternity shirts I bought from JcPenney and Kohl's. They had some really cute summer shirts that I used to love to wear! :)
WELL! Thankfully I don't need this advice anymore. LOL! I didn't do much in the way of accessorizing but I love the comfy pants.
