'Mom-Ed: Childbirth' Day 6: My Biggest Childbirth Fear Is True (VIDEO)

mom-ed: childbirth Well, Alice and Eden are at it again this Tuesday. Today's CafeMom Studio's Mom-Ed: Childbirth video is all about what happens/what you should do when pushing your baby out. And I'm not gonna lie, it doesn't sound pretty.

I never envisioned my childbirth as being this gorgeous, romantic, beautiful thing. I mean, I'm obviously over-the-moon about what it's going to result in, but I've always, I don't know, assumed it was going to be pretty icky, to put it euphemistically. And after watching this video, well, looks like I'm right. But at least there are a few things I can do to make the experience less ... intense.

I've taken three things away from this video. One, I'm happy to know that I'll know when it's time to push. I wasn't totally clear on that portion of labor. Two, I'm definitely glad to know that I should ease up on the pushing when baby's about to come. Definitely wouldn't have done that. And definitely don't want to (eek!) tear. And three, why does there have to be poop?!!

Ever since I heard that pooping was part of childbirth years ago, I've fixated on it. It's like, we're already going through enough, does there really have to be pooping also? And it's not the doctors I'm concerned with -- I know they see this sort of thing all the time -- it's my husband. By the time our daughter is born, we'll have been together eight years, and you know what? Not once has he seen me poop. Call me old-fashioned, but I'd kind of like to keep it that way.

Looks like I really don't have a choice, though. And I guess with everything going on -- you know, our first child being born -- it won't be a big deal. But I'm definitely going to make sure he only stands by my head. No moseying on down to check things out. That's just not my style.
