Sarah Palin Prepares to Welcome Another Baby to Her Family

Track Palin and brand new wife Britta Hanson are expecting a baby, making Republican Rock Star Sarah Palin a grandmother for a second time. What's the big deal, you might ask? Track and Britta have been married for two months! Well, the big deal is Britta just had a baby shower and has quite the bump. Not a two-month bump, and nobody has a baby shower when they're still in the "should we, or shouldn't we tell" phase of the pregnancy.

Honestly, would you have a baby shower when you were only two months along?

While Track has been able to stay out of the spotlight, mostly by being out of the country, servings ours, this piece of news will surely change all of that. We'll all be anxiously awaiting the arrival of the next Palin and discussing paternity, if history is any indicator. That abstinence-only education Sarah Palin has been teaching her kids seems to be backfiring, and they wind up paying the price by being thrust into the spotlight and facing intense scrutiny.

Listen, I'm not a believer in sexual abstinence, but I am a big believer in birth control. Especially for teenagers and young people not ready to handle parenthood. Which is why I could care less if Track and his bride had sex before they tied they knot. Quite frankly, if they hadn't had sex before now, I'd wonder about them a bit. But when you have a candidate for Vice-President of the United States preaching abstinence-only education, and a serious teen pregnancy situation in our country, one must point out that this platform isn't even working in her very own home.

I wish Track, Britta, and their new baby the absolute best. The grandmother, however, needs to re-think some of her policies.

I think the author has an excellent point. Nobody should care that they have gotten pregnant before they got married. However, for a family that is SO loud about abstinence only education, they are proving exactly how dangerous it is to not teach kids about birth control. You know, in case they DO make the choice to have sex.

I agree with Jafe. Also, abstinence-only education does not exist, and nobody promotes it, even Palin. Even if it did exist, it is not intended to prevent procreation forever. And even if it was, who among us expects to be able to control what our kids do when they are that old - or to be held accountable for it? What, I'm not allowed to have an opinion my kids don't share? I can't say smoking is unwise if my kid sneaks away and lights up behind my back? I then have to become a proponent of leglizing drugs? Great logic.

The only thing it's proving is no matter what parents try to teach their kids, those kids are going to grow up and make their own decisions someday.

They're 22 and 21 years old, I hardly think their situation is relevant to abstinence-only education or teen pregnancy....

Actually, abstinence-only education DOES exist. Take a trip to Kansas. Kansas City just did away with the entire portion of their sex-ed program that deals with contraception. Public schools in Kansas - especially smaller towns - do not teach about contraception. They do not educate about the NECESSITY of using condoms to prevent pregnancy and STDs. They simply say to avoid those things, don't have sex. I have read the material. So yes, it does exist. And yes, it's a problem. Because despite how much you teach and preach to your kids about right and wrong, about what choices to make and how to make them, once they leave your house, they're on their own. And they will make mistakes. And if we don't TEACH them about contraceptivers, they won't use them. And if they don't use them, and they DO make a mistake, they may end up paying a lot more for that mistake than a condom would have cost them. And they'll be paying for that mistake for the rest of their lives. However, the point of this article is not about the validy of abstinence-only sex education. It is about how the Palin clan constantly preaches about this form of education, constantly preaches about not having sex before marriage, and then Palin's kids get pregnant out of wedlock. It's irony, and unfortunately to those of you who DO support abstinence-only sex education, it's a great big pie in your faces.
