It's no big shocker that Carla Bruni would make even maternity swimwear look glamorous, but after viewing pics of a bikini-clad Bruni and husband Nicolas Sarkozy romping on a beach in the South of France, I almost wish I was pregnant again so I could copy her look!
I know what you're thinking. What? The last time I want to wear a bikini is when I'm 30 pounds heavier than usual!! But allow me to share a different perspective on wearing a bikini while pregnant: It's actually the perfect time, because nobody's expecting you to have the "perfect" bikini bod!
Plus, maternity bikinis are so much cuter now than they ever were -- in fact, I'm not even sure if they've been in style that long at all (I'm pretty sure in my mother's day, pregnant women just wore muumuus on the beach). So take advantage of this moment in fashion and pick up one of these super-cute preggers bikinis!
This solid black two-piece from Prego looks a lot like Bruni's bikini! $60, Amazon

Also from Prego: It's not yellow, but it's a teeny-weeny polka dot bikini! $60, Amazon

I love the twisty straps and roll-down waist on this suit from Seraphine -- and the color is a major mood-boost. $56, Amazon

Maybe you have a bikini top that you absolutely love -- and it still fits! Grab a black or "pumice purple" bottom from Gap Maternity, then mix and match! $32.50, Gap
Will you wear a bikini this summer?

I don't wear bikinis, even when I'm not pregnant. No way would I wear one while preggo. Luckily, my tankini has enough room to cover my ever growing belly this summer.
If I'm lucky enough to be pregnant next summer as planned, I will definitely be sporting a bikini and showing off my beautiful big bump! If there's anyone that doesn't like it...don't look at me.
I love the first black one pictured!
who in the heck would spend 60 bucks on a bathing suit??? maybe a lot of ppl, but not me
Saw the cutest pregnat woman ever at Seaworld in a bikini she looked like she should have been on TV.
Love my bikini. I'm 39 weeks and rocked it last week. It's the only time in life I'm not worried if my stomach is flat and my thighs are tiny. And from the sights of some of these teenagers, I look better them then +30 pounds.
I wore a bikini while pregnant... from behind people didn't know I was pregnant.. then I turned and people would almost freak!! lol!!
I wa spregant once before and pregant now and as soon as i starting getting that belly i instantly put on the cover up ... even between pregnancies i felt awkward wearing a bikini... im not unfit ... i am actually very slim and was back to under prepragnancy weight at postpardum so im not ashammed of my wieght or the fact of being pregnant ... i just feel like the bikini is meant for younger single women who need the flaunt not a mother of two who is married. I would def prefer to wear a cute one piece at the beach that shows off my belly but still covered. and to be honest i really dont like watching anywoment with a large stomach walk around on the beach in a bikini pregant or not ! and trust me i was very large when i was pregnant and my whole family is large and im not ashmaed of them what so ever but if you have you really dont need to flaunt it ! Pregant or not !! thats my opinion !
I'm just honestly not that comfortable wearing a bikini pregnant. No body issues here, except that I just don't enjoy attention being drawn to my pregnancy or the baby. Anywhere I'm wearing a swimsuit, I'm relaxing, and the last thing I want to do is answer 50 questions about the kid or my body from every passerby.
I think I'll stick to a regular old swimsuit with a coverup, even in the water. :)
Last summer I wore a bikini to swim with family while very pregnant. I got tons of compliments (even from the teenagers!) I didn't want to spend the money on a maternity-friendly one-piece, and I actually had a very nice preggo-belly, no stretch marks until very close to my due date. Baby is now 8 months old, and the closest I will come to a bikini is a tankini.
