That cold, non-smiling shell Victoria Beckham is famous for is getting a bit softer with the impending arrival of her new baby girl. At a baby shower for Posh thrown this weekend by pals Eva Longoria and hairstylist to the stars Ken Paves, it was all pink and girly, and any pretensions were thrown to the wind.
Even the name of the location at which the shower was held was feminine -- the Butterfly Bar at the Petit L'Ermitage hotel in Hollywood. According to Us Weekly, about 30 people attended, including gal pals Demi Moore, Nicole Richie, Rachel Zoe, Tana Ramsay, and Selma Blair.
The pinkalicious day included pink flowers, pink chairs, and all pink gifts in accordance with her wishes. From a stroller to a bathrobe to a giraffe, it was pink, pink, pink. I love that she's not going to deck out the little diva in black or gray to match her mom. Babies in black just shouldn't be allowed no matter how chic.
I love girls in pink, no matter what anyone says. I never thought I'd be that mom, but all my thoughts of not enforcing gender stereotypes and introducing my daughter to a rainbow of colors went right out the window when I found out I was having a girl. Years of infertility after having a son had destroyed any visions I had of pink in our house, until one day my daughter arrived unexpectedly. I went pink crazy too; I'm still going pink crazy more than two years later, and probably always will until my daughter puts her pink-adorned foot down and claims a new favorite color.
There's just something about girls and pink, and it's nice to see Victoria Beckham not try to be too posh to embrace the pull and loosen up a bit.
They even played silly shower games -- the last thing you'd expect Vicki B to play. But there she was making a dress out of toilet paper and trying to pick up balloons with her chin. Fun was had by all, and the mama-to-be even shared pictures and her excitement via Twitter.
I love this softer, gentler side of Beckham, and I can't wait to see her with her little girl in tow dressed in pink from head to toe.
What kind of baby shower did you have? Do you go pink crazy when it comes to little girls?
