Great news! A hilariously funny human is in the process of growing 10 toes and 10 fingers right now, and in 25 years, we'll look back on this moment and remember where we were when we heard that Tina Fey is pregnant with her second child. Score!
Tina spilled the blessed news during Wednesday's taping of Oprah -- the episode is scheduled to air April 12.
Is it wrong that I'm kind of assuming that Oprah told Tina that Tina was pregnant? Like Oprah was the archangel Gabriel who announced to the Virgin Tina that she would carry another child who will bring to the world laughter, happiness, and self-deprecating humor. Oprah totally has that kind of power. She can touch bellies and change lives.
The news follows the release of Tina's book, Bossypants, that hit stores on Tuesday. In the good book, she talks about her decision to have a second child and how hard and emotional it was for her to come down on either side of the pregnant fence. She writes in her book:
I debate the second-baby issue when I can't sleep. Should I? No. I want to. I can't. I must. Of course not. I should try immediately. I get up to go to the bathroom and study myself in the mirror. Do I look like someone who should be pregnant? I look good for 40, but I have the quaggy jawline and hollow cheeks of a mom, not a pregnant lady. It's now or never. This decision can't be delayed.
I have those sorts of conversations with myself over the decision to have either tuna salad or egg salad for lunch, so I totally get where she's coming from.
Tina and her husband, Jeff Richmond, have a 5-year-old daughter, Alice, whom I have yet to hear a peep from. I'll wait for Alice to host SNL, but I won't wait forever. Maybe on her tenth birthday, she could co-host with Alec Baldwin?
Speaking of Alec, he blabbered earlier this week that next season's 30 Rock would be the last and while I'm devastated by the news, I'm glad we have another Tina Fey creation (in human baby form) on the way to make up for our loss of funny.
Tina is probably a reluctant role model, but she seems to have made some pretty awesome decisions in her life that led her to a fulfilling career and loving family. Or maybe she didn't have to think about it at all. Maybe Oprah just shut her eyes, and willed it to be so. Amen.
Can you relate to Tina's agony over whether or not to have another baby?
