Many women fear that when they give birth vaginally, they will poop while pushing. Of course in the grand scheme of things, this crapshoot shouldn't matter. It seems ridiculous to worry about this shit, when you are experiencing the miracle of childbirth. But it's hard not to think about dropping an extra kid off while your meeting your real kid for the first time.
Here are some nuggets for how avoid it or just feel better about the impending doo doom.
- Apparently most women do do it. Ask any Labor and Delivery nurse or OB/GYN and they'll tell you the same. Shhh. It's a secret no one admits.
- Number 2, many women don't even realize they did it. And many of their partners don't realize they did it either. During my first pregnancy I was so worried about this. During labor it never crossed my mind and my husband and I think I didn't, but who knows? People say they wipe it away before you even know it.
- Clean yourself out before. Drinking liquids and eating fiber the week before your due (do do) date may help.
- Think of the big picture. Grow up! This doesn't mean stop watching The Real World. It just means there are so many other things to think about. Really, get your shit together. Your squirt will outweigh your squirt.
Now, pull up a stool, reach into the bowels of your brain and let us know if this is something that scares the crap out of you.
