She once famously asked a man, "Would she have your baby?" and now Alanis Morissette is having husband Mario "Souleye" Treadway's child. The couple married on May 22 at their Los Angeles home.
Morissette, 36, announced her pregnancy in the pages of Us Weekly.
Congrats to the happy couple!
I am sure Alanis will make a "really excellent mother" and here's why:
1. She is compassionate:
She has admitted to seeking therapy to combat her eating disorder and said that therapy helped get her together. She continues to raise awareness about this issue and often raises money as well.
2. She is strong:
Her songs are feisty, but always reveal inner strength. Many of her lyrics show patience, willingness to surrender control, and wisdom, all great qualities in a parent. An example, in her song "Thank You":
"The moment I let go of it was
The moment I got more than I could handle
The moment I jumped off of it was
The moment I touched down"
3. She is Canadian-American:
Though she has become an American citizen, she refers to herself as "Canadian American." Since Canada is known for better maternity policies than the U.S., I am going to go out on a limb and say they also make pretty rockin' moms.
4. She is familiar with Nickelodeon:
Anyone remember You Can't Do That on Television? Do you at least remember the green slime? Well that was Alanis! Little Alanis starred on the kids' television show, which leads me to believe that she will happily watch television with her child (if he/she watches TV at all) and studies show that children who watch TV with their parents get more out of it.
5. She will sing rockin' lullabies:
How envious will my kids be? They had to listen to my screeching falsetto (until my son started politely saying: "Please don't sing mommy"). Meanwhile her bambino will be treated to a nightly concert. Lucky baby!
Any other reasons you can add?
