Playlist for the Baby That Will Not Come

Anyone who has ever had a baby knows that the last three weeks of pregnancy, especially when it's hot outside, are a mix of misery, miserable, and more miserable.

With both of my pregnancies, I felt like I was pregnant 37 weeks and then another year after that. Truly.

During that time, I spent a lot of time playing music into my belly, trying to coax the little one out. So, in honor of my friends Melissa and Julia, both of whom just hit 38 weeks and are dying to meet their babies, I give you, the Baby Come Out Playlist (not to be confused with Baby, Come Back) replete with relevant lyrics.

Push It -- Salt-N-Pepa

This one works for obvious reasons:

"Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby
Oooh, baby, baby
Baby, baby...

Ah, push it -- push it good
Ah, push it -- push it real good
Ah, push it -- push it good
Ah, push it -- p-push it real good."

Deliver Me -- Sarah Brightman

I swear I played this the day my daughter was born at 38 weeks into the womb on repeat and 12 hours later, she was born. My husband and I call it the "magic song."

"All of my life I've been in hiding.
Wishing there was someone just like you.
Now that you're here, now that I've found you,
I know that you're the one to pull me through.

Deliver me, loving and caring.
Deliver me, giving and sharing.
Deliver me, the cross that I'm bearing."

I'm Coming Out -- Diana Ross

Come on already, baby!

"I'm coming out
I want the world to know
Got to let it show
I'm coming out
I want the world to know
I got to let it show."

Let's Go -- Wang Chung

I heard this one on the treadmill when I was pregnant the last time and it was just perfect.

"Let's go, baby, let's go, baby, come on
Let's go, baby, let's go, baby, come on
Let's go, baby, let's go, baby, come on
Let's go, 'cause we can't hold back no more
There's no way, there's no way
No, no way."

Tired of Waiting for You -- The Kinks

"I'm tired of waiting
I'm tired of waiting
I am tired."

The Waiting -- Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

"The waiting is the hardest part
Every day you see one more card
You take it on faith, you take it to the heart
The waiting is the hardest part."

What are your favorite waiting for the baby songs?
